Can a nepo baby “success” like Stella Lefty sustain a career

I found it bizarre that an artist I’ve never heard of suddenly had a a top 5 single and also nominations at major award shows out of no where.  Then I read how her father is a literal billionaire and it made a lot more sense. Metrics can be bought, payola is real. But will success that has been paid for actually be sustainable. People have to actually like and consume the music. But if it’s forced down people’s throats enough with playlisting, autoplay, and someone is given public “legitimacy” with mainstream award show recognition, is that all it takes to actually get people to believe they like it?

I don't know what to think about her music or art direction in general. All the appearances for her album give like... nothing? Saw an interview about her new album and all she talked about was how long she's scrolling on her phone. I don't see any artistic vision for here... There is no connection of her photos to the album title, just her "looking cute, might delete later"... Seems like she is playing popstar, but in a way little children do.

On the other hand's side... her tour sold out quickly and she was booked in venues with up to 5k capacity. They already added second dates and announced an upgrade of venues. So there must be people out there buying tickets. Of course her father could buy them but it would definitely be exposed once the sold out venues remain empty when the concert happens. Or do we think they would pay people to show up?

but it's not new tbh

Miley, Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie, Lilly Allen, even Norah Jones, Jamie Lee Curtis are nepo babies and it's only a few I had in my mind.

The amount of actors and artists who were discovered by their talent and not by the families is very little after all.

I don't know if this is a question of nepo babies or rather a product of country's popularity and the death of monoculture surprising the hell out of us. Sure, daddy could be buying up everything but that will be seen through very quickly.

Speaking of this, Nish Kumar just had an interesting take about successful nepo babies https://www.instagram.com/p/Dcgd1LtsDzQ/  but this Stella situation does feel different. We'll see...

I did not know that Lily Allen and Norah Jones are nepo babies!

I mean with acting regarding the others you mention, they actually have to be able to actually act or they won’t last. I’m just not sure if music can be manipulated more.

This does explain does of it, but I’m sure there are a ton of aspiring country singers out there right now without billionaire support that we haven’t heard of.

They still take the job from other non-nepo actors though

For example, Maryl Streep auditioned for the role of Julia in the movie Julia, Fred Zinnemann considered to choose her for the role and make it her biggest debut and breakthrough, but at the end the director and the studio gave it to Vanessa Redgrave, the ultimate nepo baby, and Maryl got a small role for her debut acting role.

IDK about todays nepo babies. Maybe they could if they are serious about it? But I feel like most of them doing this career thing just cos they're bored and need some clout.

Like, I like some old school nepo babies. Mostly actors btw, cos it seems more prevalent there. Such as: Carrie Fisher, Anjelica Huston, Mariska Hargitay, Sean Astin, Drew Barrymore, Maya Rudolph, Miley Cyrus, Jane Fonda, Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson, Mia Farrow, Michael Douglas, among others

A lot of these people have become actual legends or at least extremely well respected.  I think being a nepo many got them in the door and then they were able to sustain. But I guess the point remains the same. Who are all the non-nepos who didn’t get cast who also could have made the most of that opportunity.
