This is great, hope it's enough for #1. Madame X did 95k in 2019 before the real age of vinyl and variants so that was still an ok number for just a standard and deluxe and an album that experimental. At this point is just the fanbase buying all of these for collection and hope they have been doing their job and support it on streaming too.

Like the other user said above, this is not a concept Taylor invented by any means. Vinyl variants have been around for years, it's just that vinyl is actually desired now where it wasn't for years in the US. But the multiple formats and glut of variants concept is pulled straight from overseas, KPOP in particular.

Well I'm not saying she invented it but she's making it popular, unfortunately.

this being only 10k-ish more than her previous album feels... low? especially considering the hype and effort and major promo

if the bulk of these is physical sales, I fear for the 2nd week drop, i hope it has translated over into streams

mother, what must i do?

the last one was released before Billboard banned merch and sales were boosted by tour tickets bundled with digital album, sales fell by 95% in its 2nd week

Honestly, if you look at how she's done chart wise for albums & singles - the US has been one of her weakest markets since the Erotica scandals.
Only Music ever made it to #1 on the Hot 100 in the US (which was her first number 1 since Take a Bow in 94), Hung Up peaked at #7. She didn't chart on the Hot 100 with a single she released between Bitch I'm Madonna & Bring Your Love. So it's not surprising there's not a massive jump between the MX era & this era.

Personally, I'm watching the UK charts. It's been her best market since the 90s and Rebel Heart & Madame X peaked at #2 here so if she can hit the #1 spot that's an improvement.

Put it this way: She did a third of Sabrina's first week sales and half of Gaga's... 45 years into her career. Yes, this is an absolute home run for her. No bundles.

Also predicted to get her first UK #1 album since 2012.

Despite the massive rollout she's had, she's still been on a decline commercially over the last decade due to poor marketing and general reception towards her releases. Rebel Heart did 121k a decade ago, Madame X did 95k, so for her to have not fallen below Madame X's numbers 7 years later is pretty impressive. I also think they may be being conservative in their projections due to the holiday weekend. I could see them adjusting it to 110k-120k later in the week.
