Smother Em Eh 7,222 Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM (edited) It is her best album since BTW! She served diversity, creativity and ambition! It has her HIGHEST metacritic ranking EVER. It is like a better produced and polished version of BTW with elements of TF. An album that will truly be considered a classic in not only her discography but of pop albums in general. She really improved on her craft with this record and for that I am really grateful for. How will she top it? What sound will she go for next? And what would you like to see from her next? I’d love a pop rock album for and I think that is long over due. NUTELLA 23,265 Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM She shouldn't concern herself with topping it, imo. Nor should she make a conscious effort to "subvert expectations" & go in a wildly different direction now. I think she would be wise to stick with her pop DNA (even if she moves more toward pop rock like you say). Personally, I hope she prioritizes MELODY over everything else on LG8, even over lyricism. If she needs to try topping anything, it's this melody: 2 1 1
gagacabana 6,025 Posted yesterday at 02:42 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:42 AM How will Gaga top, you say... I don't believe in the glorification of murder, I do believe in the empowerment of women 1 9

If she needs to try topping anything, it's this melody: This - every artist releases pop albums again and again. Why can't she? She doesn't need to reinvent the wheel with every record and pander to a specific style. Her GREATEST strength as a songwriter is melody/hooks. There's a reason people adore her acoustic and piano performances-- they show off how strong the song itself and melody are. I've always felt that the production elements need work (ARTPOP would be great if edited, Chromatica wasn't great on all fronts, Joanne needs more production heft, BTW production could be edited lightly too), but she struck gold with Watt/Cirkut/herself. The best production & engineering for her songs so far! 1
TheARTPOPball 1,428 Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM While I love mayhem, it is not without its flaws, so I don’t think necessarily creating a superior record is impossible or a difficult feat for her. the real challenge is the era itself. Music videos. Promo, performances. These are the things that I look back on fondly when I think of mayhem, and the very things I think we’re missing from the chromatica era. 5

I agree with this but Chromatica was released in the MIDDLE of the pandemic and that says it all right there. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! MountainMonster 2,370 Posted yesterday at 05:53 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:53 AM Dark synthy pop, à la DWAS (Requiem Version) and Killah (Requiem Version). We’re not doing the rock nonsense. Y’all can’t handle when she dapples in other genres - even disco, which has been a part of her musical DNA since The Fame. Would love to see what she can do working with Moroder, Guy-Manuel and more Gassafelstein.

Well yes it’s justified, but i think it would have been a much more successful era if it were allowed to have a proper rollout.
Mars 2,587 Posted yesterday at 06:58 AM Share Posted yesterday at 06:58 AM I think Mayhem was a full circle moment in her discography and a kind of creative epiphany for her so Id like her to keep on reheating her nachos, blending genres and expanding her signature sound as a producer. Theres so many layers to her music already that she could delve into.
princedeeblebleble 3,247 Posted yesterday at 07:09 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:09 AM Hopefully by not finishing off the record with 3 ballads and throwing in a Swift sounding song but replacing them with Disease, Abra (Requiem/Grammy) and Vanish into you style bangers! 1
