Lizzo is determined as ever not to settle dancers suit out of court

Lizzo has said she will keep fighting the lawsuit brought by three former backup dancers, claiming “the truth is less salacious than the headlines”.

The case stems from a lawsuit filed in August 2023 by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who made allegations of sexual harassment; pressuring her dancers into touching nude performers at a sex show in Amsterdam and a hostile work environment during their time working with the singer between 2021 and 2023. Lizzo has denied all of the allegations.

Now, Lizzo has given an interview to CBS Mornings in which she said she is as determined as ever not to settle the suit out of court.

“I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true,” she said, before explaining that she would be prepared to take the stand and testify if that’s what it comes to.

“I would look fabulous while doing it,” she said. “I’m not afraid of the truth. The truth is less salacious than the headlines.” x

I have never seen a more drastic ending of a career after allegations. It wasn't like R Kelly where it took decades, or Diddy where it took mountains of people, it was quick and fast.

Can you show me where I did that? I was showing how career ending allegations hurt her quick, yet for the likes of Kanye and Diddy it took a lot more.

No (obvi) lol, but I just think her lack of accountability (even just acknowledging “hey, I understand them, but I vehemently disagree with how they perceived the interaction” would do wonders to soothe her image), and subsequent ways of addressing the critics as “haters” doesn’t help her case. I also want Lizzo to be vindicated! But I just think it could all be handled better.

Lizzo's career would most likely be the same even without the allegations.
Her career is similar to Meghan Trainor - their success is driven by hit singles and general public appeal, not loyal fanbase but once there is no hit, it's over. Lizzo was lucky that "About Damn Time" went viral - like Meghan with "Made You Look" but when Megan wasn't able to make anything go viral during this new era, she sold less than 6k (pure sales) in 5 months.
