it's been known to negatively impact developing brains and the fact it has no lingering smell makes it miles harder to know if your child is using, unlike a cigarette where it's very obvious

Making it harder to know if its being used =/= more harmful than smoking.
And yes, just like smoking it's shown to have negative impacts on the young.

But all available data - including from the NHS - is that vaping is not *as* bad as smoking because vape aerosols contain significantly less of the toxins present in cigarettes.
We have no data on long term effects on health for vaping currently, because they haven't been around long enough to provide the same level of data as we have on other substances.

I will add one thing that might be anecdotal. Vapes can be used far more frequently. Idk how taking a hit from a vape frequently stacks up against smoking a whole cigarette but yeah.

I have a friend that literally sleeps with his vape beside him and he'll actually hit it in his sleep :rip:

I never said it's NOT not(?) worse but imagine doing your best keeping your child away from a nicotine addiction and still having virtually no tell tale signs

I see under 16s everywhere puffing these things on buses, tubes, in the streets, in stores... it's clear some parents are either way more relaxed about it than smoking or just simply don't know

IMO I think this ban is a bit hardcore. we have enough public information out there across adverts, packaging, health education etc that we should just allow adults to make their own conscious choice if they wish to smoke/vape or not and put more resources into assistanting those that wish to quit

Right but that doesn't confirm that vaping is as bad or worse than smoking. Current studies shows that vaping is harmful yes but no way near as harmful as cigarettes since the main thing with vaping is that there is no combustion.

Some people really just pull things out of their ass because they can.

I think it's best to treat it as bad as smoking when it comes to under 18s, if not for health reasons but also financial

there's no reason for somebody to develop an avoidable addiction because "meh, it's not as bad as smoking"

mother, what must i do?

Like...at some point the "fewer dangerous chemicals" thing has to be balanced out by the fact that half of a vape users' breaths come from one of those things

You know what I think? Lets not further normalize spreading misinformation. Just because we should treat vaping and smoking the same way doesn't mean you are excused to spread bullsh*t.

No one's suggesting that there is a reason to develop a vape addiction

Confused about all the likes and yaas reactions. Prohibition doesn't work, it's been shown again and again. I thought GGD was smarter than this.

i know girl, that's just my reasoning as to why we should treat vapes like cigarettes; yes one is worse but both are bad and addictive but avoidable

i just think the whole "vapes aren't as bad" is a slippery slope

mother, what must i do?
