Yea, in songs like Perfect illusion, Blade or grass, Dope, Angel down, Till it happens to you (off the top of my head) she should really use a softer tone sometimes. And don't get me started with the horrors of the Shallow bridge :ladyhaha: And especially with certain covers she did during her tribute era, she really played too much on the "look how strong my voice is" card instead of just doing the song pleasantly.

I agree with everything except for the part about Shallow. That bridge is iconic and part of the reasons why this song became such a classic.

I always thought the same thing,I feel like starting with Joanne she’s making songs that might be hard to sing nightly. And I always wondered why she didn’t do more songs like “Paparazzi” which sounds softer on the track

Yes, that's what I was thinking about when I posted this thread. Ever since Perfect Illusion and the Joanne era, it seems like gaga has been obsessed with wanting to prove that she has big vocals, but like sometimes it can come off as a bit too much and forced. The fact that Hold my hand didn't do so well when it came out is kinda bc of that, those yelling vocals kinda make it hard for the listeners to keep up with the song. Idk if it's because her voice has just evolved or been damaged like some say, but I wish we had another paparazzi like song in terms of vocals.

Tbh I love her screaming!!!!!! :legend:

But then again Christina Aguilera is my fav vocalist of all time and one of the biggest criticisms she gets is that she over sings and screams too much so I guess I have certain tastes not everyone does :ladyhaha:

She's an airies

I would be interesting to hear less explosive vocals from her, especially since Mayhem

She explained in an interview that in the studios she is looking for a climax of satisfaction, a certain intensity, and this is how she knows a song is finished. I believe this is cool but it also penalizes her to reach such high notes, because it becomes annoying sometimes

I kind of agree. I don't mind her belting because it gives me goosebumps when placed right, but sometimes I do think that in some songs she could sing a bit softer in a few lines or so when I notice it. (ex. Some of her Jazz music.)  Her voice sounds so beautiful and light when she softens it.

I was listening to Lush Life earlier, and thought about this comment I made. I feel like this song is a good example of what I like when she sings. It's a perfect balance of theatrical vocals, but also soft when it calls for it.

EDIT: I know most people are talking about her pop music, but let me live okay...? :grr:

I remember Joanne era, how Gaga handled this song. The beginning has a delicate, unadulterated quality to her voice. The chorus was perfect, performance itself was good.

Unfortunately, other Million Reason performances weren't to my taste, even though she tried hard.

As for cries like "Put your paws up," that doesn't bother me.

Every singer's voice isn't going to be perfect. There are training sessions, vocal modulation techniques, etc.

Killa

Oh this topic went exactly where i thought It would right away.

For me, She belts too much and its aggressive and hard instead of soft. And gives importance and oversings where It can be a Place tò rest. Also holds ong sustained notes where It could be prefered a speech like quality. This in pop terms, happens in verses.

But i Also don't understand why She covers darkens her lower octave only to brighten the upper octave. This way of singing creates way more tension then It should. I honestly think She must have an Amazing instrument with thick vocal folds.
