Atm, Addison ain't showing she's got something unique to contribute. So I'm personally not convinced she's got staying power. 

I am actually incredibly rooting for her because she has a lot of things going for her, aside from my subjective opinions on liking her music, album and whole vibe and aesthetic.

In a world of nepo babies, this is a girl who genuinely started from nothing. Her family is a mess, her parents are both massive losers. And she has managed to do something pretty substantial with her life.

I'd respect her for that even if I didn't like her music. If she had just stayed doing those TikTok dances, I wouldn't care, but she really took that random fame and made something from it. She is genuinely attempting to do something with her life and I respect it.

Her debut album was made by three women including her and I respect her so much for making that creative decision. I want to see where she goes because I think she's doing some interesting stuff.

Atm, Addison ain't showing she's got something unique to contribute. So I'm personally not convinced she's got staying power. 

This is pretty much exactly how I feel, especially the last part. Part of the reason why Gaga has had such longevity is a combination of strong vision, business skills, ambition, versatility, and being multitalented. Addison, imo, doesn’t really have any of that going for her except she’s slightly more ambitious than some of her peers (which, imo, isn’t really saying much)

Oh so you actually didn’t read anything I wrote then. Here are some of the things I said back then. I’ve been saying the exact same stuff, so I recommend going back to read it again. Also, I’m pretty sure the “performance being lackluster” part was said from a third person point of view, since I was talking about what people seem to think before sharing my own opinion. I even used the exact same phrase, “she can’t perform or dance like Britney,” for the second time. Y'all didn't get my point.

This is wild. I was insanely impressed with the quality of her show when she was Chicago last year, especially for a debut tour. I think she's a bright star and will go far, all the pop girls get hate

I was literally there and I can say: I could tell she used playback for the biggest part of the performance and she was out of tune when she sang live  But, for me who wasn't there to see her (I wanted to see Lorde and Tyler, The Creator) and who only knew three songs of hers (Fame is a Gun, Aquamarine and Diet Pepsi), it was an entertaining show and I could tell the audience was engaged.

Ngl the smug condescension and pedantry are absolutely off the charts lmao. Your original comments were essentially a litany of excuses justifying the lack of performance quality and more or less insisting that the bar be lowered so she can step over it. In this thread, you did also, effectively, concede that it was essentially lackluster (gave her modest points for not lipsyncing, but conceding that it is “true to a degree” that her performances are lackluster).  Again, I respect you no longer making excuses and side stepping the criticism, but condescendingly claiming your point has been misunderstood to evade that ain’t gonna work lol.

People don’t think she has the stage presence to live up to what she references, and also the vocals, which is one thing she shares with Britney, as I said. In a post about Addison at Argentina Lollapalooza, because of the comments on the post and the source itself, I said that you guys would hate Britney, since a lot of the same comments being made about her voice were also said about Britney, and Addison clearly references Britney a lot in her performances. You then misunderstood me as if I were comparing them and said that Britney could actually sing, perform, and make good music.

The thing is, that was never my point. I wasn’t comparing them. I was drawing similarities and pointing to more of a student and teacher relationship. I conceded that Britney is obviously a much better performer, but music is subjective, and Britney’s vocals aren’t exactly the best.

Then you said you’re not even a Britney stan, but on every level, Britney is more talented and interesting than Addison. That’s when I wrote that long response explaining that I’m not comparing them in terms of performance, singing, or music quality. I’m pointing out that Addison references Britney a lot as an artist, clearly studies her, and shares many similarities in her artistry. She’s a true Britney acolyte, not Britney’s second coming or a new pop icon.

You misunderstood my point back then and ran with it, and you’re still doing it now despite my attempts to make myself understood.

You excused it by saying “she’s early on in her career,” “rising performer” etc. The Britney thing was not a misunderstanding, given that you were basically making a strawman argument assuming *why* people disliked her performances by making a narrow and initially undefined comparison between Addison and Britney only to insist, with each interpretation of your Rorschach test of a comment that “no, THAT’s not what I meant.”
 

Then, whenever someone merely interpreted the comparison between the artists, instead of allowing for disagreement in the understanding of the artists and the points comparison between them you, as you are now, continued to make a series of winding and evasive arguments to avoid allowing someone to simply *disagree* while doubling down on condescension and pedantry.  Just shell games and shifting goalposts all the way down. But anyway, glad you’ve softened on the quality of her performances. Couldn’t agree more.

There are 2 kinds of excuses. A neutral or positive excuse or a negative excuse, and I made that clear by saying I never negatively excused that. A neutral or positive excuse would be, “I couldn’t do my homework because my house was on fire” and a negative one would be, “I couldn’t do my homework because my dog was looking sad.” I’m sorry if you expect popstars to be Celine Dion and Whitney Houston level vocalists and dance like Michael Jackson or Britney Spears from day 1. Obviously newer artists will be more inexperienced and have lower quality compared to legends like Britney.

My comment was going off of what people said in the post that reminded me of what people said about Britney, and Addison’s relationship with Britney’s artistry which made me post that comment which I meticulously explained but somehow you still missed the mark so here we are.
