Okay, hi. Part two for the heads. Watch this be 12 minutes long because I don't know how to talk

with brevity. Okay, so here's where I've been at. Firstly, I've missed you. I've really been in my

shell over here, in my corner. I think I needed it after last year. The tour takes a lot. I'm tired

a lot of the time and it takes a lot of presence. I really feel like I need to be where I am when

I'm doing it. And then when I'm off tour, I really need to be where I am and be present with my loved

ones and not do that thing where I go on tour for a couple years and then my life just goes on hold

and I realize that I haven't progressed anywhere outside of work. So yeah, I've been being a person.

I'm studying for my permit. I must be a licensed driver before I turn 30. This is not up for

discussion. Hold me to it.

I signed a lease on an office, study, studio, workspace. I don't know what to call it. But it

feels exciting, this big open space that I don't even really know what I'm going to do with yet.

But just having a place where I can work and put my **** up on the walls and think about stuff and

listen to stuff and move. And I've run all of this from my bed forever. And I'm excited about it.

I'm excited to see what, yeah, having a bit more of like a formalized space for all my crap will look like.

So yeah, I feel a real hunger for newness and I feel the real, yeah, like a new leaf is turning or there's a blank slate that has been presented.

And I feel this way because at the end of last year, my label deal, my record contract with Universal,

came to an end. I have been in that contract for a very, very long time and some form of that contract since I was 12 years old when I signed my first development deal with Universal.

And I adore them. They're incredible people. And I've had an amazing experience with them.

But the truth is that a 12 year old girl pre-signed her, pre-sold her, her creative output, you know, before she knew what it would be like.

And before she knew what she was signing away. So I, you know, I'm sure I'll, I'll have a deal again. Could, could well be with Universal.

But I knew that I needed to take a second to have nothing being bought or sold that comes from me to, you know, to be able to do something.

But I knew that I needed to take a second to have nothing being bought or sold that comes from me.

When I see an opportunity for a clean slate, I try to take it.

And it does feel different.

It sounds like it wouldn't, but it really does.

I feel a feeling of openness and possibility and I'm inspired.

Of course, I'm working and all this stuff.

But it just feels exciting to have, I don't know, removed the container or something for a second.

So yeah, newness is kind of the theme.

Clean slate, openness, newness.

I don't know if you saw my phone background that says I have no master.

But I'm really trying to just feel what that feels like.

You know, this idea that...

I kind of started manifesting in David, you know.

That just clearly wants to keep expanding and expanding.

So yeah.

And I'm just trying to like do weird ****.

I'm reading bizarre ****ing books at the moment.

Some of them I don't even know if I like, you know.

But there's newness coming through everywhere.

And it feels good.

It feels right.

Two days ago, I started playing chess.

There's a chess board at our hotel.

And it's so cool.

I actually just played with Addison.

She came over to my hotel for some dinner.

And she's really good at chess.

So that was cool.

I think that's a cool thing to be learning.

And oh, my God, it's six minutes.

Jesus Christ, how does this always happen?

And yeah, just sitting across from someone, clean slate, having to be in the moment feels right.

You know. So, yeah, that's me.

Things are pretty open.

You might see me behind the wheel.

you might get a picture or two from my office i'll keep you posted but know that i love you so much

and i'm always here they see you i love you that these shows are ****ing everything to me and that

i am just finding it so rewarding all the time and that it's also kind of frying me out and i'm sick

and you know my health isn't great but i'm here i'm in it i'm committed there's newness and i love you

being in the same label deal for 17 years, especially at such a primal age and going through the record label throws through her most developmental years must feel really dissociating. i do hope she's okay inside. i can't imagine what that would've done to her.

imho if anything, she might do more of solar power sounds now that the label executives can't pester her to be radio friendly.

uhh I don't think I would necessarily call them a disappointment.

Solar Power is kinda cute even though I don't really go back to it anymore. Virgin did actually feel quite underwhelming at first but after a third listening I started to appreciate it much more.

Yeah, they aren't my favorites, but let's not act like they're awful.

The way I'll never understand the lashings for Solar Power or Virgin...what, we've never turned 25 before and thought we had it figured out, then enter our Saturn return and embrace the introspective hedonism we longed to reject??

I see more and more artists doing this these days, and I love to see it. I’d hope to see a nearly full dismantling of corporate pop and alternative music in my lifetime. It’s time we have some regular people get their chances to be artists. I know the money backing from labels help majorly but it’s crazy how much control they take over the artists careers,
