I Have Such Doubts...NEXT ERA!

Ok, hear me all, I love all the GAGA albums, I do not have any particular issue with them, some of them I enjoy more, some of them I do not, but that's fine, still GAGA is GAGA.

But, as The Dead Dance reception, and then the reactions I have seen from the leaked scene from Shape of A Woman, and then the atrocious performance of The Dead Dance on MAYHEM 1st anniversary megarate, (IT WAS RANKED #16!), I have doubts about...

The next era might be a huge miss (NOT FOR ME), and people will be complaining again like the Joanne and Chromatica eras.

I hope I will be proved wrong, happily too, but the fear is very strong.

What do you think? We are so overfed by the MAYHEM, will LG8 be a worthy successor, or a huge let down?

Discuss!

The only main issues I have are not starting the era in early 2025 instead, and not releasing one more single from the main album. I think it's okay for fans to discuss their ideal versions of eras (even very big ones that have gone mostly well), but some people will still talk down on stuff that was good anyway.

People aren't going to look badly on this era because one song which wasn't even part of the original album wasn't very good :neyde:

And Shape of a Woman... I don't view this as anything to do with Mayhem tbh

You’re basing this off the Dead Dance and Shape of a Woman? I’m kinda confused what this thread means  you think the next album won’t be good because those songs weren’t?

Oh I got it :neyde:

I don't think either of those songs will impact future reception, they were just extras... If the main album and singles all bombed then yeah, it might affect the hype. But so many amazing songs, festivals and the tour! I can only look forward to the next era.

This thread title nnnnnn — :air:

I think as long as she keeps on honing and refining her artistry, the next era will smash with both fans and the “GP” (whatever that means in this day and age).

Any post-album drop single would’ve done as well as TDD unless there was massive airplay and play listing deals in place.

IMO, Gaga is better off front-loading her era with singles, MVs, and promos while post-album release should be devoted to album campaigning for accolades rather than promoting, which would include single drops.

I also think the response to TDD is because of its “forced virality” factor vs. a genuine viral hit like Bloody Mary. I think the next era will be just as big if not bigger than Mayhem tbh.

I’m willing to bet Gaga’s next record will go hard, nothing comparable to TDD and SOAW.

Think MAYHEM tracks 1-2-3-4-6 and make it even more intense.

Also, she always does something different. Some people will love it, some will hate it. It’s just the way it is and Gaga is totally used to it by now.

She doesn’t desperately hope it will be a commercial success. She’s actually horrible at guessing what will work or not. DWAS being supposed to be a cute little track in the meantime, Disease being supposed to take off with Joker’s massive success, TDD supposed to go super viral, they clearly weren’t prepared for Abra’s immediately warm reception. They didn’t even see Bloody Mary coming when it had already been on the edge of explosion for years… and I suspect they were staring at Summerboy last year.

After TFM, it all went down in that regard. I’m sure she used to feel sick about it, but now she gets to appreciate the hits even more.

Well considering that TDD and SOAW are from the MAYHEM sessions (we’ve had lyrics and even snippets of them from basically album release), it’s not like they were recorded more recently and thus aren’t a representation of her future direction.

Yeah let's wait and see. After Joanne and Chromatica, Mayhem definitely felt like a step in the right direction.

i think it's best you just worry about you and your enjoyment of the music, if other people aren't enjoying LG8 then... let them not enjoy it

mother, what must i do?

Because Gaga is known for so many different genres, I think it’s unreasonable to base your predictions for the next era on her recent releases.
