tbf i was also questioning her judgement when she signed on to ASIB; a 4th remake that had failed to launch multiple times, a first time director, the previous versions also being poorly rated movies, it seemed doomed from the start

i think she knows well when SHE can do well in a role

I wouldnt say "never again" but i wouldnt personally want another jazz album anytime soon. While I dont mind her going outside her usual POP to try different genres shes already done 2 jazz albums and Id rather see her do somethint different like ROCK should she do another non Pop album

 

As for Movies, depends. I think long term it can be a good career strategy to incorporate movies as tbh Hollywood is a bit more forgiving to age than music. Theres always roles for older people but theres never room in the radio or GP (en mass) to keep you highly relevant when your old. I genuinely believe Barbara Streissand and Cher were helped to last as long as they did because they incorporated acting into their career not just music. And they both had relevant TV career highs long after their last major music hits

 

That said we also saw with Joker 2 that movies can have their risks too. You can do your role well and for reasons beyond your control you invested a lot of time into a project gone bad. In this case given GAGA is on a music career high rn it might make sense to hold off major movie comitments for now and focus on music since shes doing so well right now and maybe just keep taking smaller cameos and smaller acting roles for the next little while, but eventually go back to taking big roles again (unless in the near term she gets offered a role one can just not refuse)

 

This is purely a career analysis tho. Ultimately she can do whatever she wants and its her choice.

LBR, she's gonna do multiples of both in the future, no matter how we feel. And I will enjoy and support both! She's an old soul, an all-around entertainer with loads of talent in multiple directions. This Old Hollywood Star thing she strives to achieve is rare. Can we name anyone else with a career analogous to hers? It's fun to see someone succeed so broadly in multiple artistic endeavors. 

But for this mental exercise, I say bye-bye to movies. Movies are fun, but music just touches me more deeply, no matter the genre. And I do enjoy jazz standards. 

It'll be interesting to see where she goes. I agree with the sentiments about trying more indie roles, working on women-led projects, taking on more creative direction. 

I suspect acting in film has let her down a bit. I think it'd be hard to go from being in charge of the vision most days of her life to working on a film set where she has to take direction. She translates best in the worlds she creates for herself.

Whether it's movies, jazz, or both...more of that, please.
