OMG you're right, it does feel like a weird breakup when it happens   

 

Lana Del Rey is the obvious one for me. I feel sad about it but her Maga husband ? No no no, I can't wrap my head around this situation, it feels like such a slap in the face to me. Soooo I really distanced myself from her music but I know I still love the art and the massive impact it had on my life... I used to feel so flattered when people told me that I look a bit like her and, even though I still find her gorgeous, I'm always taken aback when someone compares us physically nowadays.

And I've seen her husband's comment on not being MAGA but... Don't know if I trust that...

But in the true definition of stanning, I've never comitted to any one (we have theories as to why in therapy). 

Like with Gaga, adored her from day 1. Consumed everything, saved and failed to get BTWB tickets etc. Still haven't seen ASIB/HoG and have never listened to C2C/L4S all the way through more than once lol. 

I just don't get to the stan point with anyone. 

Well, maybe the fact you don't get to the stan point is a great thing ? 

Cuz... I mean, sometimes when I see how stans act, it looks a bit unhealthy to me. But maybe it's just me, I don't know

I used to looooove Lana and Florence.

NFR, often considered as Lana's best work was the first album that didn't click with me. I've forced myself to enjoy it, and now I do, but every next album, I either liked one track, or none.

Same with Florence, I loved How Big How Blue How Beautiful, probably my favorite album from her. Then the magic just stopped.

Huge Rihanna fan but have lost interest. Her discography while good, I’ve heard too many times over and the lack of new full bodies of work ofc made me lose interest. Her side quests in music have been nothing remarkable. 
 

Although I still love her, Katy Perry. One of the boys, and Teenage Dream are two of my favorite albums ever, prism I liked about half of the songs, still bought the album, etc. ever since that record every album she has put out I’ve truly only liked 2-3 songs on. With the exception of 143 (I was unable to find a single song on the record I liked unfortunately) I liked some of the singles she put out and I really enjoyed bandaids so I would love to hear an album with that sound, and some improved lyricism. 
 

I will also say Nicki Minaj. Her discography is unmatched in female rap and I loved it so much, and was not one of the people who slept on the Pink Friday 2 album ( I liked most of it) but her recent spouts on twitter and obvious other public decisions have kinda made me look at her in a different light. It doesn’t bother me that she is trying to stand up for Christianity or whatever bc if that’s her beliefs than good for her, but it’s just the president trump a$$ kissing that reads so fake and wierd to me. Not to mention her husband. 
 

I will also mention MARINA, But I don’t wanna say I’ve fully unstanned, I just didn’t enjoy her newest album. Kinda when Lana did chemtrails, and blue banisters I tuned out for a second, but she won me back over, so maybe Marina can do the same.

Gwen Stefani! Growing up I dreamed of seeing her in concert and my gay 10 year old ass had all her perfume bottles on my book shelf for the harajuku characters. I was so excited when no doubt got back together for their comeback push and shove, and that album had absolutely no skips for me. Her later solo releases were a bit bland, and her latest is a snooze fest. Also her pushing the religious agenda has turned me off her completely. She has amazing vocals and ill always feel some love and nostalgia for her but she is the only person I would say ive truly stunned and in recent years just not been interested in their creative output.

Imagine Dragons

People don't take them seriously enough as musicians. They experiment a lot on their albums while still pushing a signature sound in their singles, all while have heartfelt lyrics and standing up for important issues (like being a huge LGBTQ+ ally). They took their craft very serious. Plus Dan Reynolds seems like a very genuine and humble guy (based on when I was stanning from 2013-2019).

I've seen them live 5 times and each show was a blast.

That said...

The quality has dropped, to the point where most of the albums are filler in terms of songwriting. Too repetitive, too same-y. There hasn't been enough of an evolution to keep me interested. And while I'm not complaining at how Dan looks without his shirt on, I do miss the days when he was just a relatable scrawny dude

I'm still rooting for them but I'm not following them closely anymore. When their next album drops, I'll check it out but I'm not anticipating it the way I used to.

It's so interesting with Gwen because she was always the good Christian girl, she was never shy about her strong religion belief, but I think we, fans of ND and Gwen, didn't make the separation between Gwen the person and Gwen the artist and now when she went too much out of character and too religious, less ska, less pop, less "Gwen", we just don't know how digest this.

I think you're right! Maybe its the current political climate in the states which has made it seem worse than it is.. but also her music is just not the artistic quirky music she used to make i still loved her bold and brave choices though particularly at the time of her solo peak

yeah it's also that, everything that is a bit "conservative" looks like a giant MAGA statement.

It also feels like Blake influencing her too much, especially musically.

But yeah, she will always be a pioneer in pop music.

If I stanned, I’m probably not going anywhere.  For example, I don’t love Chromatica, but because it was Gaga I stuck around. 
 

The closest I can think of to “Un-Stanning” I guess would be The Spice Girls? I was obsessed but they simply didn’t continue.

I mean, I think it is also the fact that even though evangelism was a political beast by that point. The sheer evilness associated with it now in public concious just didn't exist. 

It had less cultural baggage even after Gingrich/Reagan etc.

Yeah I agree, also it was kind of common for American artists to stress that they are believers in interviews, so when Gwen said that, it was just fine.
