Me too but damn, I wish Born This Way had at least one Grammy :bradley:

Interscope didn’t even submit Bloody Mary for the 2024 GRAMMYs… it would’ve been ambitious, that’s for sure, but who knows, maybe it would’ve scored a win for Pop Solo or something, even if its chances were reaaaaaaally slim, it was worth trying

would it even have be allowed? honestly it's kinda wild to think about it since it was everywhere in 2024.

Yes it was eligible as it was released as a single in the right period.

Just like WILDFLOWER was nominated this year even though the album was released two years ago and was nominated last year

Grammys have some rules that allowed Wildflower to be nominated this year because the album didn’t win any the previous one and it was released as a single during 2025. As far as I know these type of rules only apply to Record and Song of the Year , which is why Wildflower is not part of the Pop Solo category.

Now Bloody Mary. That’d have been interesting if Gaga submitted it to Song and Record. I wonder if this had been possible?? Born This Way had been out for 10+ years, not sure if the rule applies to recent albums.

I feel like republican music would be more nominated and awarded if that were the case, but perhaps it plays a part. Beyoncé has the most Grammys of all time so idk!

Given she was nominated for AOTY for her first 3 albums I think they absolutely appreciate her talent but maybe they're waiting for her true magnum opus to give her ROTY, SOTY, and AOTY the same night :ororomunroe:

This sounds way too calculated and planned. Arent awards based on grammy voters? Individuals are voting who they think should win not carefully crafting the right time for someone to win as an individual they would not have that power

Unless it really is that rigged and the votes mean nothing

If the traditional old straight white males of the Grammys were as monolithic of a voting bloc as this math would have them be - Gaga would be doing way better because of who she claims as inspiration and seeks to channel regularly.

The oldschool body of the Grammys are rock critics, they adore all the same music Gaga does.

Grammy voters are encouraged to vote for genres that they are experienced with. It's only when it comes to the general categories that everyone pitches in. That's why artists who are POC, LGBT, female, highly experimental or "artists of the people" can do quite well in genre based categories but get left out in the cold when it comes to general field. When it becomes all about the popular vote, then the "safer" acts tend to win. But gotta admit, while I knew the academy had diversified over the years, I'm surprised that over half the academy aren't white, that really flies in the face of everything we were led to believe. And 66% being over over 40, was also surprising, I felt sure they'd introduced a whole lot of younger people around 2010. But I guess they were young at the time.

I just think they have issues with strong women doing innovative sounds and not being in.the box

Madonna never got any GF award while pushing albums like ROL, Confessions, Bedtime Story, Like A Prayer, Erotica. It says a lot

Madonna is a very different case from Gaga. The Grammy’s always snubbed and never took Madonna seriously as an artist and only saw her as a pretty face that liked to stir controversy. After 5 nominations, her first Grammy win was for the Blonde Ambition Tour video release in 1992, 9 years into her career, once again reaffirming how they saw her more as looks and spectacle than as a talented musician and songwriter. After that, it would take 8 more years for her to win something again with Ray of Light (an album that they simply couldn’t ignore).

If you are comparing Gaga, she’s 18 years deep in her career with 16 wins and 45 nominations (Madonna had 5 wins and 18 nominations at the time). Gaga won her first two Grammy’s 2 years into her career and already had more nominations in 2 years than Madonna managed to get in 9. So is fair to say that the Grammy’s respect and like Gaga a lot more than they did Madonna in her heyday

@monketsharona

I agree with @DavidLuis198. Madonna is a bit different. I think Madonna only truly became critically acclaimed when her career started to last a long time, her success continued and it became clear she was going to be a serious legend. By then a long time had already passed in her career.

Gaga on a relative basis I think due to much better vocal prowess and other talents got taken seriously much earlier on and as such got oppurtunities to start winning earlier

Madonna may have been creative but i think for a long time she was seen as talentless and desperate and only famous due to being provocative

Once we hit the 2000s and she was around for over 20 years, suddenly she became a legacy act and way more respected because it became clear she was now a legend. But by then her career basically had already peaked with only a few more hits after that
