Melania Trump documentary sells just one ticket in UK cinemas

UK ticket sales for Melania are so far “soft”, according to Tim Richards, the chief executive of Vue, one of the country’s biggest cinema operators. Just one ticket has been sold for the first 3.10pm screening on Friday at its flagship Islington branch in London, while two have been booked for 6pm.

At the time of publication, all seats remained available for the 28 screenings of Melania at the Blackburn, Castleford and Hamilton branches. 
One industry insider suggested that the film’s distributors might be paying a fee to cinemas in exchange for screenings, an established practice known as “four-walling.” They added: “I’d be amazed if box office gets reported on this title.”

The documentary about the First Lady, will be shown across hundreds of screens nationwide after Amazon, the movie’s distributor, spent millions to launch it in cinemas around the world this Friday. Despite Amazon splashing out $40m (£29m) on the film, it appears the movie could struggle as it hits the screens. Not a single ticket has been sold for the 9.55pm viewing at the busiest movie theatre in the metro-Jacksonville area. Cinemark Jacksonville's website shows that every single seat is available, with people even being able to purchase up to 20 tickets. It appears this isn’t the only cinema where Melania’s film has failed to sell any seats. One X user shared an image of the 3.30pm screening of the documentary in Atlanta and once again every seat was available.

I just looked at local AMC. Mind you I’m in LA, and people have bought tickets… I’m so confused. It’s not sold out but there are actually people who bought tickets.

 

i dunno why you’d even want to see a glorified sugar baby with no talent.
