I think we all need to remember how hard Gaga went during COVID and stuff (where Michael was ALREADY AROUND). I think there is a very specific reason she’s not speaking up now, and no she’s not suddenly MAGA or sharing republican values. Regardless, it is still truly disappointing, I agree.

I think for gaga she is focusing her efforts on the remainder of the tour. She could do more but honestly being in a different country and working as hard as she is she probably cant spread herself too thin. Yes shes a multi, millionaire but I dont think we are at risk of her becoming MAGA - she literally helped Kamala's campaign just a year ago

Everyone finding out so much of your favorite celebrity’s fire for social issues was prompted by following trends, PR teams, etc.

I couldn’t care less whether someone with a net worth probably 1000x or more than my lifetime’s earnings agrees with me or not. The truth of the matter is that these things will never impact 99.9% of them so any way they’ve pretended to care beyond the basics was always, for the most part, performative whether you agree with it or not.

At the same time - I won’t soon forget that Gaga acknowledged and lifted the LGBTQ+ community as a whole before it was trendy to do so. Made the industry wildly uncomfortable many o’ times starting in 2008. 

Nor will I forget her screaming at the US government to repeal DADT

Nor will I forget her collaborating with her mom to start a foundation benefitting/protecting LGBTQ+ youth

Nor will I forget Americano (!!!!), Born This Way, Hair, Angel Down, etc.

Nor will I forget her being LOUDLY against MAGA since it’s rise to popularity despite her dad’s public views

Nor will I forget she literally called global leaders during COVID to drum up support for the One World benefit concert

Nor will I forget when she scrapped an entire album campaign TWICE to promote bigger issues at the time

Nor will I forget when her entire career’s message has been focused on acceptance and kindness

I can’t personally blame her if the reality is that she’s taken a step back from the public movements because of how strongly it impacted her mental and emotional health in 2016/2020. And you all WON’T shame someone for prioritizing their own mental health

I understand some of you want your favorite celebrity to do more, but I’m also not gonna come in here and almost feel like this thread is becoming an “I’m disappointed in Gaga” discussion when she’s quite possibly the most socially involved global superstar of the 2000s.

Why does she have to remind you of her views or support every time a different issue arises. Go stan Katy or Billie then, like  

I know where my girl stands, and for all we know, she could be silently donating or discussing her options with Michael for when she returns to the US. I just think there’s a lot of steps to be had between “I’m glad x celebrity is speaking out” to “why doesn’t Gaga care anymore”
