Marry the Night is a bit too long and all over the place. If it was edited down it would have been better. The same applies for Government Hooker.

Highway Unicorn and Bad Kid are underrated.

Hair lyrics are bit underwhelming but the production is top tier.

Judas is overrated.

The funniest thing about Born This Way is the fact that JUDAS turned out to be the song people play and remember the most from that album :rip: to this day I swear it gets streamed, airplay’d and requested in clubs by like Gen Z all the time. I know Judas, Bad Romance and Paparazzi are probably THE Gaga songs I get requested the most when I DJ.

Yeah I know BM had it’s moment but that was sort of short lived bc of Wednesday, Judas was popular even before that

If you think SHICD is immature when it talks about accepting your death peacefully, I think you're not very mature 🫥

It’s not about accepting death it’s literally about using things to cope it’s literally about alcoholism and addiction in general lmao

Imagine thinking SHICD is mature pls 😭 Not to mention that you chose to compare it to a song written from the POV of her as a teen lmao

I think a lot of her music was from a mature perspective, but was written by someone who at the time, had no real experience with a mature life so the music reflected that. ARTPOP became her first foray into using more advanced lyricism on an album and then we have ended up here now with Mayhem and Happy Mistake where she’s a mature person who writes maturely now.

Not an opinion really but a question to monsters who were fans in 2011,

Was hair perceived as cringe by LM’s back in 2011?

Yes and no, we accepted it because she said it was written from the perspective of how she felt as a teen and how her hair was her identity. She was using it as a metaphor for how people try to change other people’s identities and how when you’re young l, your identity is all you have.

I think that the lyric “I’ve had enough, this is my prayer, that I’ll die living just as free as my hair” is actually pretty profound. You can use this as a symbol of basically anything whether it’s something small like your job, or something big like your gender identity or sexuality. That you are holding out hope that one day all the pain and struggle will eventually be worth it and you can be yourself without worry.

Well, if you want to get technical, the song explores the euphoria and escapism of alcohol and drugs, representing his fear of the monster of addiction, where the initial ecstasy of being "happy in the club with red wine" contrasts with the possible fall, showing the dangerous nature of that fleeting and self-indulgent pleasure, as well as touching on themes of sexuality and self-pleasure ☺️

Highway Unicorn was and still is my favorite song from the album. I love how loud and boisterous it is. Back in the iTunes days, which showed play count, HU was upwards of 13,000 listens - no joke.
