Btw @apollorowling since you’re new here, my comment above is a reference to a 2018 thread where someone had a meltdown because a member called them “sis”

Not an opinion really but a question to monsters who were fans in 2011,

Was hair perceived as cringe by LM’s back in 2011?

A management and strategy opinion: You and I should have only been a single in US and maybe Canada. They should have pushed another song in European/other markets, like heavy metal lover

Well, in 2011 I was 15. Honestly, I loved HML, Scheisse, Government Hooker, and as a Latino, I loved Americano; I thought it was hilarious 😂 My grandma and I would sing it like two pelicans, AAAA AMERICANO 😂 But Hair... I don't mean this in a hateful way, but it always seemed childish to me, like it was from a kids' show. Back then I didn't really connect with Queen, BJ+AM, or FOHL either, but I didn't think their songs were bad.

Hair is incredibly disney, thanks for sharing! I first listened to the album in like 2015/16 so wasn't sure if I just HAD TO BE THERE for it, or if my dislike was warranted :ladyhaha:

Hair coming after and before the masterpieces Americano and Scheisse needs to be studied

The concept of finding Hair cheesy but finding neither Americano nor Scheisse cheesy

Controversiaga

Marry the night is the most overrated Gaga song

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Yeah, ofc Scheisse’s a bop, but it’s also a song that features her speaking in German gibberish after saying “I don’t speak German, but I can if you’d like” lmao. Gaga’s body of work is broadly camp/cheesy so when I say that I’m not saying it’s bad (Scheisse is one of my favorite Gaga songs), I’m just pointing out that I think fans selectively recognize those qualities to justify not liking songs they don’t like when it’s something that’s true about a lot of her music and her artistic brand more broadly (which I think is purposeful and something a lot of her fans basically just don’t get).

- Highway Unicorn is WAAAAYYYYYYY too underrated

- Although I love Hair, Bad Kids and it have cheesy and kinda childish lyrics

- Conceptually, it's Gaga's best executed era

- The album cover is so tacky, but it's even more iconic

Franch Toast

The lyrics to "Born This Way" (song) are cringeworthy and lazy. The sentiment behind the song is important, but I wish she would rewrite the lyrics.

I'm not just talking about the potentially offensive lines ("Chola or Orient-made"), but the laziness of some of the rhymes and awkwardness of the lyrics. Gay, straight, bi, and lesbian are all used as adjectives, and then they're paired with "transgender life" which is an awkward phrasing that's forced in for the off-rhyme of "bi" and "life". And "You're Lebanese, you're Orient" makes no sense because one is an adjective, one is a noun, and how can a person be "Orient"?

And yeah, I know someone revised some of the lyrics, and she sang that version at my Jazz & Piano show, but she has the ability to do a proper rewrite.
