TheFrenchGuy 2,136
Dawn of Chromatica is better than Chromatica (at least the songs that are not straight up dance remixes) Free Woman Fun Tonight 911 Replay Plastic Doll Sour Candy Sine Babylon are all better on DOC. The collaborations really elevate the songs and give them much needed life Edited Friday at 01:56 PM by TheFrenchGuy 1
Decodekid 29,086
I don’t remember all this hate in 2020 Anyway, justice for plastic doll, that was a cry for help, I could sense Gaga fighting off the meds side effects with that song, she was almost forming a thought again but then Sour Candy comes next and we’re back to the numbness. The tracklist is a story, it’s camp, the journey continues. idc, her most cohesive work probably, for better or for worse. Is it revolutionary? No, and it doesn’t need to, not every project has to be the best so far, the music got me through a lot, i was still streaming it on a regular basis until Disease came out. TimotheeChalamet 6,355
While not Gaga's best album, it's far from her worst and people on here hate it only because Mayhem is better and they compare the two, but they should be valued separately since they are very different projects with a different vibe and purpose. I think Chromatica is solid and coherent and besides some flat production choices it has wonderful lyrics that touch deep into Gaga's personal life, and that was therapeutic for her in order to get back to form Edited Friday at 01:52 PM by TimotheeChalamet

Just curious Also, it’s worth saying that Gaga’s worst is most pop artists’ best, so the banter shouldn’t be taken that seriously. It’s not bad at all, it’s just missing a certain essence, and that’s understandable given the context in which it was made. The lyrics are some of her best. I appreciate it as an album that kept her alive through some of the darkest moments of her life, and as much as we like to hate on BloodPop, I’m thankful he was there to create a safe space for Gaga. I honestly think that without him, there would have been no album at all. Chromatica also CARRIED the pandemic for me and that's worth something.
Ladle Ghoulash 32,642
Sour Candy is one of the worst songs in her discography I love the studio version of 1000 Doves Alice has potential, but it’s not finished. Mid asf. I actually love the cohesion of the album and I think I might prefer it, on the whole, to ARTPOP (while ARTPOP’s highs are certainly higher, it’s lows are either somewhat grating or have aged poorly) Edited Friday at 02:02 PM by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS 2
steven 6,269
Chromatica is the only album of hers I can listen to all the way through, it flows so well. I really love the contrast between how dark her mental space was and the house production. It’s one of my favorite albums from her.
elegidadedios 2,629
I loved the album at the time, but Sine From Above is the only track that made it into my favorite songs playlist on Spotify nowadays. Truly perfect
bim 492
Chromatica I, II, & III are the glue that holds the album together. Without these cinematic pieces the album would make less sense. The bridge of Plastic Doll is iconic and it’s hysterical to me that she’s mocking the childish ways people have treated her in such a campy way. The remix album was fine, I love that a lot of young, queer artists were able to be part of the project. Ultimately Chromatica deserved a full on 90s house remix album with 5-10 min tracks. Gaga’s producers actually had nothing to do with Replay, it was sent from God on a USB.
hamartia 1,857
The narrative that bloodpop was this evil puppet master forcing her to make mid music is so pea brained. It sounds like the two of them worked really hard to put something together during that time in her life. I don't envy him for being in that position at all. "I lied. I lied!" Truly perfect I love this song so much. If I had to describe why her music is so important to me, I could simply play this song. I’ll never forget hearing just dance for the first time and the way it tapped into something I was never aware existed. Her and her music will always be the great gift in my life. I can’t even begin to imagine life without it.

If anything he was a very good and patient friend who had her back in some very dark times. We should be grateful for his contribution in making Gaga feel better. 1
RochesterJoannster 3,628
Another one: Many Chromatica Fans think any criticism of Chromatica comes solely from a place of it no longer being her most recent album and often fully ignore any details explaining otherwise.
