Not as bad as Chromatica but overall it's very safe and is missing the Gaga factor to make it exciting. I made a list ranking all Gaga songs and the first song from MAYHEM is at... #25 or something? - The tracklist is way too long and is messy. The order of the songs doesn't really make sense until the middle of the album. And the MAYHEM concept is only there on the first part of the album. - Born this Way has a lot of songs that are way more rock than anything on MAYHEM. - Abracadabra is terrible, the verses are very dull, production and vocally-wise. The hook slaps and the rest of the song doesn't live up to it. - Blade of Grass is amazing and I'm not surprised that the fans don't get why it sounds like this, because y'all also didn't understand 911, DWUW, Swine, Joanne (album) and so many more. Miss Thing in her ragebait era, I live! We have forgotten our public MANNERS

bim 492
Disease is my favorite album opener of hers to date, and the best song on the album imo. So many layers and the energy is unrivaled. Going from ‘could you pull me out of this alive’ to ‘there are no more tears to cry’. OBSESSED. The outro makes me see god. LoveDrug with a ferocious guitar solo as the bridge would make the song a 12/10. 9/10 otherwise. Blade of Grass is a beautiful song. It makes me think about the kind of love I want and deserve. No shade to the rest of her discography, the production on this album makes a lot of her other music feel a little unpolished/overproduced, although I’ve always known that and have found the grit of her music to be an appealing factor. Zombieboy is top tier, although without the outro it would somehow feel less so. I love the complexity it adds to an otherwise campy song. 1

Love JD (top 40 Gaga tracks, to be sure), whereas MTN is top 5 for me. FWIW, also my second to least favorite single from TF (PF > PAPARAZZI > JD > LG) Edited January 9 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I think BR as an individual song is exceptional. As an album opener with the context of the record and story it’s trying to tell, I think Aura does a better job. I’d put MTN just a hair behind Disease. At the end of the day, mama really knows how to open an album and any of them could easily be a justified favorite.

Aura is a very dramatically satisfying and exciting opener, I honestly still stand by MTN being a stronger opener than Disease.
