BornAsUnic0rn 2,245
Rightfully so. Appeasement doesn’t work. If Trump wants to play dirty, Europe has to stand up, unless they want to be divided between US & Russia.

Bronco 24,799
6 hours ago, PartySick said: It'd be a battle but not a war. Denmark, hell all of Europe combined, has no chance against the American military. The way they retaliate is by cutting diplomatic ties, removing US military bases from their countries, severing trade agreements, and dumping the dollar as the global currency. If "we" want Greenland, "we'll" take it. But it'll cost us everything. The US will become economically unstable and as soon as the consequences of isolation hits Americans, it's really over for whoever's in power. The US won't survive as a rogue state and I have a feeling our military won't let Trump destroy us. A military conflict with Europe would escalate into a full scale global conflict in all reality, so it wouldn't be a battle it'd be a war. But the best weapon Europe has, and they have privately threatened this in recent months, is that it holds close to 25% of US debt ($2.34million). The UK is the second largest foreign holder of US debt after Japan. If they hit the nuclear option of a coordinated mass liquidiation of US treasury securities, the economic impact would be a large scale US financial crash and government liquidity crisis larger than the 2008 crash. The US, could do like wise with European securities, but at that point it could avoid or end any conflict anyway because you can't fight a war during an economic crash. It's what destroyed Tsarist Russia in 1917, the collapse of industry is what brought the Third Reich down, it was a major factor in bringing down the Second Reich and its allies ending the first world war. Throw in other likely economic stressors in the event of the US going rogue - Russian blockading middle eastern oil routes, China blockading Taiwan's tech industry. And the US would fold very quickly. The gays know how to party

FfFfFfFF 58,070
Unlikely to happen‚ but this is something natural to say for EU member states. It's unsurprising that it's being said‚ bit will also be unsurprising If nothing comes of it.

I agree with you on the point about it being natural to say under normal rules (especially NATO rules). But in the current age, with how weak and subservient the european leadership class have been I am surprised. MOT 3,605
This is all happening because 900k people (or whatever the number was) in the swing states voted for Trump in 2024, but if there was a Presidential election one month from now, Trump v Newsom or Shapiro (or some other white guy under 60 who can speak in proper sentences), Trump would be pulverized. It's an absurd state of affairs. Can Europe not just wait it out till the midterms ? I know the midterms could go pear-shaped, but surely they are the best hope. If the US invades Greenland, I would rather wait for the possibility of a US withdrawal (or Presidential impeachment) post-midterms than engage in a military conflict with them.
