Dogs are people pleasers whereas cats are more of a symbiotic relationship. I dont always want to give Mango (my cat) attention, and Mango doesnt always want my attention lol it works out. Id rather clean a litter box or utilize the self cleaning ones than have to take a dog out every few hours. Ngl I’ve always found this pop pseudo-psychology both reductive and pretty blatantly moral masturbation by cat owners, as if preferring dogs is a moral failing and all dogs have the same personality. I have a Corgi and her personality is basically somewhere between a cat and a border collie: she’s a herder, likes to have her people all in one place, but isn’t necessarily a huge cuddler (which is something I respect, even if it’s not my preference), is very autonomous (and occasionally willful/stubborn). In what world is that dynamic one of “people pleasing?” It’s fine to prefer cats, but the false sense of moral superiority is too much lmao Edited 15 hours ago by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I know plenty who get in trouble because they bark and bounce and some even pee from the excitement. Ive met dogs that force themselves on you, stare at you, whine, etc for human contact and acknowledgement. Im glad that you have a dog and are enjoying it. My point was - I don't see the majority of cats acting that way and personally, I don't like it when something is all up on me and overexcited just because I exist - its exhausting. Again, glad your dog isnt like that. The last corgi I met was a brat who would howl if she didn't get her way and wanted to be praised for everything even if they were disobedient.

He already clawed me this morning because I'm looking after him while my parents are on a cruise, and it turns out my mum feeds him treats every morning and I didn't get the memo Do you feel him sir?
TimotheeChalamet 6,238
I love both but it's dogs for me. I have a shiba inu and she is kind of a mixture of both a cat (personality-wise) and a dog

As someone who’s worked in professional pet care, I’ve been attacked randomly by more cats (at least 3-4) than I’ve ever been attacked by dogs (basically zero). Monstermilo 5,090
dogs feel more like a family member, but they are more work cats are easier to take care of, but idk they arent as loving or cuddly and kinda just live in your house also hate the concept of a litter box with poop in it, stinking up the house....... my friend had a cat and their house smelled of urine and poop i couldnt even hang out at their place
AVeryGagaHolyDick 27,572
As someone with deep depression for nearly 20 years (I’m not even 30 yet), I definitely prefer living with cats. They don’t “force” me to go out. And they don’t stink I really love dogs too, but I don’t have the strength to look after them.
