Last time was in 2018 for ASIB. And that was the very last, believe me. Unstopping cellphone a**holes filming the screen, while other cellphone a**holes playing whatever tic-tac-bs-games WITH THE SOUND ON during the movie...

There was a time, it was mandatory to shut off cellphones in theater. There was another older time there was no cellphones at all. But this blessed era is long gone alas.

The Springsteen movie & before that Freakier Friday, but only because of peer pressure lol. I would have preferred to watch both at home.

I used to adore going to a movie theater. For years in middle school & the beginning of high school, my group would go literally every Friday night.

My biggest gripe nowadays aren't even the prices- which are appalling- but actually the viewing experience itself.

You can't beat the sound in a theater, but visually... everything looks so dim & dark. Because it's just a projection. The picture is much better at home with a gigantic, ultra HD tv (with the light/pixels emanating from behind the screen, illuminating everything).

Add to that the forty minutes of advertisements, trailers, etc (including theaters ironically sucking themselves off about how "dazzling" the picture quality is lmao 🙄)

The ability to pause, discuss, piss, etc. is something unavailable to you at a theater, too.

 

One time in elementary school I peed my pants in a movie theater because I didn't want to get up & miss anything. I still haven't lived that down.

Now? Couldn't be me.
