Like I’m sorry fans may be demo obsessed but that’s not without reason. Mama lays some of her most interesting ideas out in them *cough cough* chromatica *cough *cough*

I truly think that the change back to the 2012 verse vocals was due to Lady Gaga leaking the song in August 2013, at least IMO.

Oh yeah 1 billion percent. I have high doubts she changed it of her own volition or that the label made her. I mean after btw had plenty of weird vocals, I don’t think those were the issues they’d have had (the song has many other weird elements lol). My theory is she dropped it out of frustration and then to keep it on the album changed the vocal

They make edm trance music, it’s not like it’s some artistic experimental genre that only exists in a contemporary art context.
They, to their perspective, sold out.
They wanted their “life long pension” and then felt guilty for sacrificing their non-existent morals and then criticised Gaga and pop music as a defence.

edm music is derivative of disco and house music, which goes hand in hand with pop. Most of the first proto-techno albums were essentially pop albums.

I think they have the right to be critical, but their critiques come off ignorant and lack knowledge of music history.

pop music will never be low brow! Get with it! Duhhh… also it’s not like Aura was some smash hit that got Gaga millions of dollars lol

Girl bye. The vocals are only SLIGHTLY adjusted from what was actually released.

it's not slightly adjusted, they're entirely different verse recordings where her energy is maxed to 1000%

If you don't think the label made her change it, which has pretty much been the fan theory, what do you think made her frustrated and leak it?

If the label DID make her change it back to the older less maniacal vocals it would make sense for her to feel frustrated and leak it so we at least got the better version. If they didn't make her change, I can't think of why she'd be frustrated

“cheap things such as Britney or Gaga”, “we felt embarrassment for our fans”… what absolute pretentious assholes lol. And the irony is that a lot of their music is “cheesy” af even through it’s not pop music, and hasn’t developed much since the early 2010s.

I'm fine, Ta

I guess I was thinking she was frustrated as a whole not just around Aura since they apparently gave extensive thoughts on ARTPOP. In my mind, she just chose to leak the track she wanted as it was to show them demand was there and act out but then later on to have it included on the album she changed a little bit of it so it could go through. I could be totally wrong, though! I just felt like the issue wasn’t an isolated one or super specific to aura since it did have the least amount of changes from demo to final release compared to some others where there were whole rewrites, reworks, scrapped bridges, etc.

I think it says more about them.... they failed to honor their own integrity and were bought out... and then felt justified in calling Gaga cheap. Hypocrites.
