every ally maine-core song from 2015-2020, like that weird rnb with melodramatic chord progressions and plucky sines and vocal chops and finger snaps. also tropical house

does that genre have a name?

I was describing a genre you are all certainly familiar with.

I'm sure you know titles such as The Middle, Stay, Never Really Over, All The Pop Songs In ASIB,

When I tried to search for the genre of the hit song "The Cure" I was met with this

clearly google has failed me, so I need to take matters into my own hands.

by making you guys figure it out for me

so what is this genre called?

it has:

rnb influence

melodramatic chord progressions

plucky sine intro ostinatos

vocal chops along with that into

finger snaps

singers you forgot existed

vocoded backing vocals

a chorus that builds up to a post chorus with those vocal chops and a distorted flute solo or smth

closely related to French dance and tropical house

TELL ME GGD.

NOTE: calling it soul-pop is an insult to soul and pop

NUTELLA

People hate on The Cure too much. It's a dumb, one-off for her... but I actually think it has a lot of replay/dancing value.

Especially the last 25 or so seconds

Chesescake

I kinda know what you talking about, but I don't think there's a specific term to describe this trend.

So I think it's just electropop? Like, water down EDM-inspired electropop.
