For example, I love the banjo in Auras intro, G.U.Y’s bridge, the way she pronounces G.U.Y in the last chorus. She sounds just like she does in ROM during that. Love the way she pronounces “Jupiter” in Venus, “Saturn… JUPITA!”, also MJH’s bridge slays, even if the lyrics are a lil cringe. I also LOVE Donatellas pre chorus, gives it a lil break from the bone crushing beat, lastly, love the little A-R-T-P-O-P when Applause ends. It sounds like it could be the theme for a jazz-themed villain in some arcade fighting game and I live for it. And he was like a friend at first and then betrayed your party because of something innocuous you did early on? The way she references the Wh*re of Babylon (the lady in red on MAYHEM) from the ”Book of Revelation” feels insane to me. ”Walk into the light, displayin' diamonds and pearls in my (Fashion) Married to the night I own the world, we own the world” And the nods to gnosticism in the bridge and outro. ”I take it off, I put it on I feel alive when I transform But this love's not material Now take it in and turn me on Zip me up, it can't be wrong 'Cause your new look's ethereal” and ”Fashion” being pronounced like ”Fashaeon”. An aeon is a divine being according to gnostic texts. Honorable mention being the ”Voodoonana” in Donatella being the same spell used years later in Abracadabra. Kind of makes me wonder if Chromatica and MAYHEM were intented to serve as spiritial successors to ARTPOP as she did talk about potentially having enough ideas for 3 ACTs of AP.
