because modern rock music much like country is; is for white people and marketed toward them. Nothing released post Elvis in the rock genre has been aimed at or marketed toward non-white people.

I feel like you don't actually engage in the alternative scenes which coalesce around rock music.

There's absolutely an issue of racism in the rock music world, and all music scenes. But you're dismissing acts like H.E.R, the Nova Twins and Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes who are incredibly successful rock acts with significant industry support and critical acclaim. And absolutely aren't making music exclusively for white audiences.

You have valid points about how the music industry takes black sounds and gentrifies them but I just can't take you seriously when you make grand sweeping statements that ignore the ongoing contributions of black people within the genres you're dismissing.

If I'm racist for wishing rock music saw a cultural renaissance because its been gentrified then explain to me how its not racist to ignore the modern contribution from black artists.

Rap has gotten so bad tbh. Bring back the vibes from 200-2017 and we’ll talk

1800 years of beats :music:

OT: Well, all the good rappers either died, faded out, or retired by the late 90s so what do you expect? The whole genre's infected with generic garbage just like pop is. Pop is just more widely appealing is all.

Oh look the white twinks are absolutely thrilled racism is taking over the arts. So many of you are predictable racist freaks. Makes sense many of you apparently prefer Morgan Wallen over hip hop. It doesn’t matter if it’s not “your taste”. You’ve lost your mind if you don’t see how this is connected to the rise of conservatism. News flash—who do you think is next? White corporate conservative music is taking over. You think they’re gonna stop with hip hop? Lmao. Many of you could really use half a brain

Girl hush. Nearly all modern music has its roots in black spaces.

Country, rock, hip-hop, rap, pop, dance, house, EVERYTHING. Aside from Latin music, literally everything.

Besides, black artists can thrive outside of rap too. Bruno, The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kendrick, Drake, black artists dominate popular music.

I'd argue that you're partially right about dumbsh*ts like Wallen getting more popular 'cause they appeal to a pale audience but you can't deny rap as a genre has been generic, predictable, and boring for years now. And before that, it was rife with offensive lyrics that the people here (gays) would obviously be offended by. Only the girls (and Kendrick) do it right these days and some of the best of them are usually too busy making up drama online with each other or kissing the toes of nazis themselves to really inspire listeners to spin their stuff.

There's just nothing good coming out of the rap game these days and it doesn't make you racist to acknowledge.

Rap will return eventually. Probably next week tbh.

Also black artists are more than hip pop and just because they have been boxed into that genre doesnt mean their existence is limited to its dominance in music. Shaboozy literally having one of the biggest hits this decade with a country song is proof of that

F*cking thank you.

People so concerned about calling out perceived racism that they become racist.
