Very valid, but the person I was responding to was complaining about me saying its a shame rock music wasn't filling the space left by rap. TheSine 6,240
I'm fine with it since rap music hasn't been that good lately. I mostly stick to old school rap or underground rappers. 💛

Users expressed concern that the decline in rap may be attributed to cultural reasons like the rise of extreme right rhetoric that is rooted in racism. Their concern is founded on rap being a black dominated genre that right wing media has gone after pretty extensively. Your response was a dismissive joke about rap being misogynistic and homophobic despite the genre evolving and progressing and some of the biggest recent acts are women or queer.

That's the whole point, I found their statement to be idiotic, because not liking rap music doesn't mean the people here are racist. R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz etc. are all genres of the black community that many people, who don't like rap, listen to and love these genres, so to go with a baseless, generic statement, is just as idiotic as labeling and generalizing rap music as homophobic and misogynist. Bradley 59,438
As a non-American, the queer fascination for eliminating all non-dance/pop genres is baffling to me. Why is your country is so goddamned divisive? Like why can't these genres co-exist in harmony and if not mutual appreciation, then mutual respect? Why must we celebrate their end?
arrtpop 2,752
Oh look the white twinks are absolutely thrilled racism is taking over the arts. So many of you are predictable racist freaks. Makes sense many of you apparently prefer Morgan Wallen over hip hop. It doesn’t matter if it’s not “your taste”. You’ve lost your mind if you don’t see how this is connected to the rise of conservatism. News flash—who do you think is next? White corporate conservative music is taking over. You think they’re gonna stop with hip hop? Lmao. Many of you could really use half a brain aphrodite

Many of you could really use half a brain Be forreal please Hip pop is on the decline but Rnb is rising again thankfully with black artist leading the resurgence. The charts could definitely use more flavour but there's two Rnb tracks by black artists in the top 10 organically (cant remember when last that happened) and more tracks would rank higher if not for Taylors album taking so many spots. I dont think everyone here is being racist because because they are celebrating the decline of a genre where homophobia and toxic masculinity is normalised and lets not be delusional and pretend its not. Also black artists are more than hip pop and just because they have been boxed into that genre doesnt mean their existence is limited to its dominance in music. Shaboozy literally having one of the biggest hits this decade with a country song is proof of that.
