I’m sorry but that’s wrong, she was loved until up to Telephone mv. Her issues with the gp actually started back when she swallowed the rosary in Alejandro, I remember the shift vividly when I started hearing ppl saying horrible things about her at that time.

Then, when she came up with the visuals for BTW, gp went hard calling her demonic following the events from the above and things only got worse after that. ARTPOP was both the epitome of overexposure that contributed the most for the hate coming from the gp imo, and also the Madonna comparisons aftermath, the Katycats and etc.

You’re right when you say that fans were crazy for her, especially the real ones who survived all that mess, but public love was probably the least thing she was given during those times.

I mean people are welcome to their memories but factually, ARTPOP was a difficult and confusing time for fans because of the random announcements, silence and drama and that's where the nostalgia kicks in :interestinga:

I see a lot of tweets and tiktoks about how ARTPOP was an amazing time to be a fan when really... no? it had fun moments and performances but lets not act like it was a great experience overall

But the "hate" she got were controversial moments she intentional created, so I dont see it as hate? I was not effected by the drama and controversy because I understood it was all done on purpose, and it was part of the art. So I was having a great time seeing all of it happen, which is why it shocks me when Gaga says she was effected by it when she intentionally created it!

ARTPOP was messy and chaotic, but we got alot out of it. We woke up everyday to multiple news, photos, candids, interviews, performances, social media posts, unreleased tracks..

I feel like Gaga was masking her real art during The Fame and The Fame monster, and only few fans understood the meaning behind her art. ARTPOP was full mask off which is why I fell in love with it.

not sure what alternate universe you experienced ARTPOP in but that was not the case in this one... being ditched by her manager certainly was not an intentional art piece....

mother, what must i do?

Thats why in my original post I said

"I think the negativity mostly came from her personal life"

i lost a bit of interest during the Chromatica album cycle, but it’s hard to say if it was the hardest “fandom” moment because it was due to things going in my life and once i revisited the album later, i liked it a lot more

i’m a woman, i insist, it’s my life ♀

Tbf, a lot of the hate/negativity from the GP was surrounding the idea that she was “desperate,” “flopping,” and quickly becoming “irrelevant.”

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I’m standing since end of 2017/beginning of 2018.

The mess I recall since then must be

- the Enigma residency (blue wig)

- Chromatica: the era that died too quickly

- 2023 drought and the Nurtec weeks after we’ve been waiting for the tour film

- Joker 2 and the anticipation for LG7: it’s coming “soon”, the whole 2024 vs 2025 truther thing and the meltdowns when we learned that DWAS will be on MAYHEM lmao

NO DUCT TAPE - NO MISSON

some lms love rewriting parts of history they don't like which I think is kinda disrespectful to Gaga because the way she managed to turn things around is f*cking spectacular

I do :cheeky: and you're pretty much proving my point of how fans lets nostalgia cloud the reality of it

Ye the ARTPOP era was a messy disaster in whole, but I still really enjoyed most of it. We got so much bombastic content despite it all. I'd much rather have to go through another chaotic ARTPOP era with a crazy pop album where Gaga is wild, artistic and serving c*nt as best she can, then another ten years of sterile, boring "America's sweetheart" Gaga going through a never-ending identity crisis and doing Jazz and bland adult contemporary music.

I'm fine, Ta

Hey everyone. 2025 has been an incredible year for Gaga and us as a fandom, with a critically acclaim album, hit after hit, one of the greatest shows of all times and awards left and right.

But, Gaga has recently made a few comments regarding those fans who saw her in her lowest lows, especially during the ARTPOP era. So, I'm wondering, what has been, in your opinion, the most difficult time to be a Little Monster? Regardless of whether you follow Gaga from The Fame, ARTPOP, Chromatica, etc?

For me personally, February 2013-August 2013 was a really rough time. Gaga was getting some serious backlash during the North American leg of the Born This Way Ball and then the tour was cancelled due to her hip injury. Then seeing her on a wheelchair got me very worried, what if she wouldn't be able to perform anymore? That was also the first time she skipped the Grammys, and her last single (MTN) was released over a year ago. I remember a lot of people turning their backs on her because of all the controversies. Madonna kept making awful comments of her, and all of her records kept being broken (most followed person on Twitter, most watched video on YT, etc). When she finally posted the first photo teasing ARTPOP and the Internet went crazy, I saw the light once again (I wasn't ready for the mess that was going to be the era but I was just happy we were getting new music lol).

I was going to say this time period as well... I was in high school at the time and most of what I remember was absolutely LOVING her for everything but a lot of people around me (so maybe it's situational) disliked her and still held onto their own beliefs created from her earlier work/moments.

I would make the main argument that it was a time where I think a majority of people knew she was talented, but didn't realize how talented she was and chose to see only the theatrics. So many people in that time would say she can't sing, she was being too weird, she was "copying", etc....As a fan since day 1, I found this so frustrating because the ARTPOP era was a chaotic beauty of its own but it showcased her talent so well and I felt not enough people recognized that.

I WILL say, that when she did the sound of music tribute.... A LOT of people suddenly started to decide she was a good singer and give her the respect she deserves.

Ever since that, around 2015 or so, I would say the criticism has either come from the fanbase (with Joanne and Enigma) and the usual suspects within the GP who are going to be critical of anything.

Funny enough, a lot of my friends did not even realize she was still making music until I told them about seeing the MAYHEM ball... however, they find themselves becoming fans (or becoming fans again) of her music in this era. I work with a heavy metal band... and my favorite thing is having showed them MAYHEM and them falling in love with the album and also going to seek out her music/live performances on their own!

The hardest fandom moment has been from 2005-2025 tbh...it's like no matter what she does, she just misses the mark and it could be so much better. It's like she doesn't even want to be as big as she could be. There have been soooo many missed opportunities like why did she pick TEOG over Hair as a single; why did she swap Venus for DWUW; why did she swap A-Yo for MR; why did she perform at the Super Bowl when she should have performed in space? She should've performed the original ARTPOP in her golden wheelchair, even if she wasn't ready to be back on stage, imagine how iconic it could have been! Speaking of ARTPOP...ugh, such a messy album and era, she could've definitely saved it if she rode the momentum and released ACT II! It was also so devastating to see her pivot to jazz like who even cares about those records besides soccer moms, UGH! Also the Nurtec of it all...she if she wanted an easy check, why not just have a partnership with iHeart or Apple Music and plug it with a performance of Free Woman and Babylon? If only Bobby, Sarah, Frederic, Michael, John Jannick, Jimmy Iovine, her parents, Asia, Koji, her injector at Epione, her neighbor, her gardener, etc. could just listen to me, she'd be eating out of the GPs hands!
