Mirrion Rizzons 11,894
I was very much GP about Gaga until mid 2016, so personally the worst time was mid - late 2017-late 2018. I think seeing her in a bad mental state, as well as her ongoing chronic pain struggles, losing sonja was hard as a fan. I was looking forward to seeing the JWT in early 2018 but my London show was cancelled the day before, and then we didn’t really see much of her until ASIB promo and Enigma While we didn’t see her much in 2022, 2023, 2024, I could tell she was in better health and happy with Michael, so I didn’t mind the silent phases Edited September 28 by Mirrion Rizzons
Auralegends 7,232
Purely from a fandom perspective, I think Chromatica, followed by ARTPOP->Joanne Chromatica felt like a lot of lost potential and for 4 years we had nothing except from a movie, DOC and CBT. I started watching the Zane Lode interview for Chromatica and in retrospect it feels like she wasn’t there and/ or did not want to be there, while with MAYHEM she looks so happy

Props to her PR team because her previous management wouldn't have been able to recover from that lol two months later nobody even remembered she was in that movie and Abra was topping the charts I'm only good at being bad 5 1
River 119,360
I think the whole hip stuff was stressful, just the idea that she might not perform anymore was depressing. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Alejandra 40
Harlequin has been the hardest thing for me to wrap my head around… The Swine performances during ARTPOP also a struggle. I love the rest of what Gaga has done. I do not get how people dislike Chromatica!!…it is probably my favorite album of hers. The music and the aesthetic are I am sorry she was in a very terrible state writing the album but I will always love what came out of it. Decodekid 28,736
ARTPOP without a doubt. The Nurtec era had me thinking she completely lost her mind, but hey we’re so back Lady Gaga, actual patient Long Live Gretchen
HermesG 1,704
Joanne era I was afraid I'd lost all my interest if she didn't return to (dark) pop. When i saw the MR video i was like "Brazil i m devastated"
Sylvia Browne 2,631
The month-long delay of the release of chromatica literally killed a part of me.

But it was whole ass serve, except the fact that we only got two MVs. The Aura leak, the amazing photo shoots, the Applause MV debut in Time Square, the VMAs, GMA (twice), the iTunes Festival, all the magazine covers, the tracklist reveal from the fans, the artwork slow reveal live on NY streets, the snippets and promo singles, the Gypsy debut performance in Germany, SNL, the YT awards, the acoustic performances with the dolls, the ArtRave (being shot professionally), Volantis (although useless and kinda miserable), the dozens of fascinating interviews and looks, the AMAs, Allan Carr, Graham Norton, Machete Kills, Sin City, the Holiday special, The Voice (twice), the Tonight Show, the Roseland Ball, the SXSW show, the different Gaga exhibits, C À Vous, the Woman Of The Year ceremony, the final artRAVE being streamed live and so on… Yes it was a mess, but it was an amazing one 1 4
robotvoiceinalice 1,796
for me, joanne era cause idk it didn't seem authentic and seemed forced, along with mediocre at best music, and ofc with Chromatica era cause it all came to a hault after releasing such a good album and it didn't seem like she cared about much during the pandemic. it was hard to watch other artists feed their fans and give them something during a hard and stressful time for many meanwhile Gaga went silent for the era after the Oreos 2

DrKindnessKunt1999 6,227
-The overall darkness of ARTPOP and the things that went wrong with that era that were out of Gaga’s control (like the ARTPOP app and other projects that Gaga had to cancel). -The hate that she got during the ARTPOP era from the GP and some “fans” (that Gaga noticed and even tweeted about).
27monster27 14,153
2011 - 2016. I don't think a lot of people realize just how culturally hated Lady Gaga was at that time. She wasn't just hated as Lady Gaga, she was hated as a concept. The idea of a progressive woman who fought for equality and being different was being constantly lambasted in the media. I remember an OGH infiltrating a fan site in November 2014 with a fake poster that said "ArtRave: Fat After Flop" and the last paragraph of the poster said that gay fans committing su!cide due to her flopping would be a cure for the AIDS pandemic. It was horrible. People were saying the same thing in 2016 again. And that "Lady Gaga: Her Face is an American Horror Story" website claimed in 2015 that she was self-harming, and the instant speculation from them was that it was for attention. I really don't think people realize how bad it got. he/him/his 1
