What happened? In her prime, she was propped up by a massive ‘machine’ with great songwriters, stylists, promotion, and lots of investment from her label.

Now, without the same team, she’s been left to her own devices regarding direction, music, style, vocals etc… Hence all the missteps.

This only brings to light what many of us knew back then… she got lucky at the start of her career and ultimately just isn’t talented…

It takes raw talent, like Gaga’s, to build yourself back up, when ‘the machine’ is gone.

Gaga did that, through sheer hard work, with Joanne, Jazz, ASIB music, acting, touring.

Katy is just not talented enough or enough of a hard worker to do the same.

She is condemned to be a has been.

I remember when she first hit the scene (I feel so old saying that) and she had such a vibe, and then when Teenage Dream rolled around and it was hit after hit, she really was THAT bitch in the music industry.

But I agree, she needed a lot of support behind her to promote her as an "extremely talented" singer, and unfortunately she never really allowed herself to try branching out in new ways to prove herself. I know this is a Gaga fan-site but I swear there is no bias when I say that when she fist released "Roar", I knew she was not going to be a singer who lasts the test of time. She stays in her safe boundaries and tries to constantly recreate her brand when she first came on the scene, rather than deviating from it while also paying her early work homage.

At the end of the day, I would have gone and seen her live back in 2010 when she was all over the radio... but I quite frankly wouldn't spend my money now to go see her because she just doesn't seem to put on the type of show she used to. I considered going to see her in Vegas... that felt like it would be a cool place to hear some throwback hits and dance- but after seeing some videos and learning more about her, I opted out

Nothing she has ever done came across as authentic. Nothing ever felt like it truly came from her heart. All her music and aesthetics has this plastic shiny veneer but it isn’t going to win her any hard core fans. It worked for her till 2013 but at some point your fans are going to crave for something genuine. She is so afraid to take any risks or to show the real her, people can see right through it and her career has suffered.

This is what happens when your music doesn’t really stand for anything in the long run.

She kinda tried that with Smile (funnily it’s my fave album from her) in that I had a lot of songs that harkened back to her imperial days but with a more “mature” take, and broader production (not really but for her standards it was lol) but that album flopped sooooo hard, she is probably scared to try anything different. Which sucks cause she could really make a comeback if she really tried but nooooo, she chose to work with a sexual predator to churn out D-list levels of music instead of, you know, making good music. She really is her own worst enemy lol

Started watching. Turned it off after she said “are we tone deaf?” In chained to the rhythm, in an incredibly deaf tone :sue:

People are jealous of a beautiful, smart and talented woman. That’s it. She is amazing and it’s just cool to hate her now, so everyone is jumping on the hate bandwagon. It’s just a reflection of what world has become.

I need to go back and listen to smile because I didn’t hear it all, but that atrocious cover isn’t doing it any favours :laughga:

Either way, like you said, she ruined her career by working with dr puke …

The Fame Monster

At least she’s trying her best—unlike the one they call Lake… Timber, Timber, Timberlake. :laughga:

I still kinda feel bad for her like she must sit alone in a hotel room at night and feel bad, the Internet hates her and calls her a flop, she's just lost her husband etc.. I feel for her on a human level. That being said this tour and album was not it. There are a few decent songs on 143 but she needs a rebrand desperately to survive another era. And maybe some vocal lessons :traumatica:
