i really admire how she fully commits to doing a true world tour and to visit the markets where she knows she has fans and is appreciated. The tour has been a relative success despite the commercial underperformance of her album, and it's because she didn't give up on this era. Gotta hand it to her, girlie works hard

Latin America remains loyal to her despite everything so it would be a slap in the face if she didn’t. And this applies to other pop stars too. :sue:

All of her big tours so far have been real "world tours". She always performed in Asia, Australia/NZ and Latin America and often these shows sold better than in the US or the UK. Just look at the demand for Australia for her recent tour. She wouldn't visit Adelaide from the beginning, but they begged her to come and ended up with 4 shows. And in Brazil she performs in stadiums. Seems to work in the long term: if you are loyal to your fans around the world, they are loyal to you, too.

Many pop stars can't relate being this global...

She had to do it even if it would cost money because most her fans are now none American now. So this will benefit her in the long run. Thats why she does these weird Olympic performances all over the world too.

I went to her show in Argentina (not a fan, but a friend wanted to go). And while she did modify the stage to make touring cost effective... I'd rather have that than no dates at all, and I respect her for that.

Tbh. Shes still a bigger star than some give her credit for even if in terms of her chart performance for new singles is poor

Most legacy acts no longer chart and even new album sales/streams kinda suck by current hot A-list celeb standards

But its all relative. If everyone still knows who u are and you still make millions on tour (even if its not always 100% sold out) then u still have a more successful career still than most artists will ever know. Thats especially true if u cant still do that outside your home Country/Country

Katy is a flop on charts now and overall by current hot artist standards. Her career on the grand scheme of things on the otherhand is far from a flop.

Were just comparing her career now to her peak (that shes long passed)and comparing her numbers to Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen etc... Of course its gonna look like a "flop" by those standards. But these hot artists are literally 0.01% of the industry :rip:

I definitely think the whole concept of most artists not touring LatAm because it won't be profitable is a complete cop out. Labels and artists and make so much money, they can afford this. The gigs are selling out, millions is being made, how much money does it cost to fly a US artist a bit further south of the border? Sending them to far flung locations is a bit more understandable but a lot of venues and hotels in LatAm are probably a lot cheaper to rent and everything will be a bit cheaper over there. I think they're just not sent there as often as the fear is that the locals can't afford the high prices. Recent LatAm sales from Taylor, Gaga and biggest of all, Shakira (mostly all her dates are in LatAm with 28 sold out stadiums in Mexico alone) as well as upcoming dates from Dua and Kendrick prove that is not the case.

Good for the fans. I was assume you putting in that much effort into being a pop star you would enjoy performing. So why wouldn’t you perform for people who adore you even if you’re not making money from it?

The world failed Katy, we failed her. She deserves so much more. I hope this hate bandwagon ends and we can truly appreciate her.
