Was “Dead Dance” worth getting no other single?

We’re lucky to have gotten one video apart from DWAS in this industry now, let alone 3.

Especially when Disease and Debra are easily the best pair of videos to come out of an era since BTW (all the “pink” eras had one outstanding video imo).

Zombiecat

we probably wouldn't have even had one anyway so at least we got one with TDD

I could see her maybe doing a late MV like GUY or 911 possibly though

Yes (if it reaches top 10)

No (if it flops) then I’ll be on streets screaming justice for Vanish Into You!

Im just gonna say Gaga's moves are calculated and also Gaga serves both fans and casuals. Gaga is for everyone and im happy that The Dead Dance became a surprise single with a video. She always understands the assignment.

Mayhem will have atleast one more single, i am very certain, especially now that she and Interscope is seeing the success of The Dead Dance.

Maybe... there are more surprises to come!

Babes, we haven't had a legit third single since Born This Way.

"Die with a Smile" and "The Dead Dance" have helped keep Mayhem on the charts and used a lot of cross promo and synergy to get marketing dollars for the album and tour. They are blessings. No doubt we'd get at most a "John Wayne" or "911" style promo video for "Vanish Into You" or "Garden of Eden" without the Netflix brand tie.

Yes, if the traditional four single album cycle were still a thing we'd  likely have videos and prono cycles for both "Garden of Eden" and "Vanish Into You." Maybe even "How Bad Do You Want Me." But that whole idea is pretty past tense. Songs get promo on TikTok now. Expensive music videos don't really drive streams or sales anymore.

Love the songs you love. They can be classics event if they are not singles.

From a stan perspective, what’s the point of getting a single? We already know the song so I guess the only difference is that we get a video? But we have a video for TDD

genuinely asking btw

And do you think TDD video is worth having instead of a video for one of the other mayhem tracks? :max:

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

A new single means renewed attention to a song, it means being sent to radios, creating a MV, playlisting on Spotify and other streaming services and we also get new material like single covers and potentially physicals.

And usually a new single release is accompanied by promo spots to promote the song, like interviews, TV performances, award shows, more TikTok activity etc which means we'll see more of Gaga.

From a stan perspective getting a new single is amazing because we get all kinds of content.

Would I have preferred another song based on preference? Yes. But also I am extremely grateful to have new music, extremely grateful the era is being lengthened, and extremely grateful that TDD is doing well.

As a fan, we get the music and the performances irregardless, but the point of a single, really, is to get the GP's attention so the era is successful. So I am grateful that TDD is doing what it is intended to do, as it gave us a music video, VMA performance, and acoustic version of Vanish Into You.

As a stan, it’s cultural impact a hit single has.  Who cares if The Fame was great if Poker Face and Just Dance didn’t make it a cultural MOMENT?  Mayhem deserves to be a MOMENT, and not just for die-hards.  Gaga worked incredibly hard on this project and put out what  I consider to be some of her best work. It’s just sad to see them let it stall and move on to a lesser song that’s not even on the record.

If she doesn’t want Vanish Into You to become Shallow 3.0, then it’s her choice to do so.

Wait which song is 1.0 or 2.0 of Shallow??? I never thought about a series of her songs like that, this is so intriguing

Shallow prototype = Million Reasons
Shallow 1.0 = Shallow
Shallow 1.5 = Always Remember Us This Way
Shallow 2.0 = Die With A Smile
Shallow 3.0 = Vanish Into You

Honorable mention: Hold My Hand. She tried.

They’re all love ballads that are/ could be successful with the general public.

Economy

Id say yes because it has a much better shot of being a hit than a 3rd single fron original track would and promotes the album more than a poor performing single would

That said i would have loved to give HBDYWM a chance... but im just glad we got a 4th single this era. It was feeling very short with just 3 (2 if we exclude DWAS which originally wasnt even part of the album)

Lmao, it's not stalling at all :air: It's a hit in the making right now, comparable with Abra in some metrics.

And TDD was literally recorded during the mayhem sessions and it IS part of the album.
