What if Gaga remade ARTPOP (instead of ACT II)

It's a well-documented fact that the creation of ARTPOP was a strenuous process for Gaga. "I got tired fighting to keep it my way", is something she said while reflecting on the era. DJ White Shadow has also said that the project was one of the most stressful periods of his life. To quote him: "I have never been so broken as a human being the day when that record was turned in. I was nearly dead. I felt trampled on, and finished with music. (...) I have been trying to undo the trauma of completing that phase of my life."

We meme a lot about Gaga hating the album and forgetting it, but it makes sense that it's a chapter that she was hesitant to revisit, because it made her hit rock-bottom in more than one way.

That said: it seems that a lot of healing has happened in the meantime. Her love for the material has been clear during the Mayhem era. And even though she doesn't just want to slap her unused demo's on a CD and call it an album, she didn't completely rule it out either.

So what if, instead of releasing an ACT II, she remade the album?

Some positives:
- She could give the songs the love and positivity they deserve, perhaps fine-tuning them in the way that she had wanted to back then.
- She could finish and add unreleased tracks like Brooklyn Nights, without having to commit to a full ACT II.
- She could fill the DWUW-shaped hole that was left, restoring the flow of the album.
- It would be a dream for fans.
- It might renew her pride in the album.

Some negatives:
- It might open her back up to the negativity of that era.
- It might not be as good as the original.
- It would take away time and focus for brand-new projects and music.

Forgive me for drawing parallels to Taylor Swift, but it could essentially be ARTPOP (Gaga's version), where she takes back full ownership of what the project was supposed to be. Some might consider it rehashing old material, but I honestly think it could be a very interesting creative experiment - especially with all of her growth from the past 12 years. 

What are your thoughts? Would you like a remake, of do you prefer the idea of 'ACT II'? Or would you rather have her focus on new material instead?

I'd rather have her focus on new material instead. ARTPOP is now 12 years old, it's truly time for people to move on.

I mean there's nothing stopping her from recreating an ARTPOP she wanted and releasing it on soundcloud, she has the connections, team and money

but it might legally be a problem, I doubt she'd be allowed to call it ARTPOP related unless she goes through some legal loopholes, which could just add pointless stress to something that she's supposed to be doing for fun

or maybe she knows it's better to move on and focus on the present instead of getting trapped in the past

Please no more ARTPOP Act 2 requests. ARTPOP is a solid album that had the potential to be great. Can we agree as a fanbase to leave it at that and move on...

The only reason people stan so hard is that critics/GP hated on Gaga during that time and the album was less successful than TF/TFM/BTW. For those reasons, they made it out to sound like it was a horrible album when it wasn't. Some interesting things but the final product is a solid 7/10, not some hidden 10/10 unknown gem.

Ofc just my opinion tho... the album had some serious bangers/excellent songs, just needs some editing.

Gaga herself confirmed that there will be a sequel just in the Mayhem press era.

Also, I think Gaga has matured a lot both personally and artistically. Her vision of what she wanted to say with the album has probably evolved a lot. I think it'll be much more critically acclaimed this time round if she attempted it. I don't think she necessarily needs to leave it behind.

This x10. I literally became a fan of Gaga because of ARTPOP, but I’m so tired of the ARTPOP/ACT II conversations. That era of her life is done and over with and I would die happy if she never revisited that material—at least in the way that many fans want it—again. I want Gaga to grow and evolve as an artist, not look back.

She didn't confirm there would be a sequel. She said it's not a no.

Huh? She didn’t confirm, she said something like “I’m not saying it’s a no or it’ll never happen”, and that she would have to be in the head space for it if she was going to revisit that style of music

I think misremembered it. It was the Telephone sequel she confirmed.

But still, I think she's capable of reinterpreting ARTPOP with a completely different lens today.

Can we just lay the poor thing to rest. If it were ever to happen it could have been for the 10th anniversary, but everything consiered just let it go.  I'd prefer a totally new album with a more modern sound.

I don’t feel like it needs to be remade. Some production on the album is one of her bests. I don’t see anything wrong with it and I don’t get any negativity or stress-related emotions from songs or her vocals

In any ARTPOP related, I would prefer her to go for new songs that is inspired or gives off the vibe and energy as ARTPOP or remastering or rerecording unreleased/unfinished tracks from the ARTPOP vault.
