One of the few Countries the US has a major trade Surplus with when it comes to manufacturing? (Yes i realize theres a small overall deficit in trade in Canada favour because the USA buys so much Oil and energy from Canada but in the context of factory blue collar jobs were a net contributer to the US manufacturing job market) Well you see. Solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy are being systematically shut down by Trump causing less supply (economics 101: less supply, higher price). The power grid is also in dire need of physical maintenance. Energy efficiency is suffering causing even lower supply. AND all these corporations (and to a lesser extent, normal people) are developing AI that's sucking a ridiculous amount of power, creating higher demand...and higher prices. Florida already has some of the highest utilities in the country and we're on a fast track to paying a sh*t ton more just to keep our houses habitable. Oh for sure. They learned post-COVID that they don't have to produce as much as possible anymore. Just cut production to cut expenses and then charge double to still have the most profitable quarter in company history. Luckily I haven't seen a noticable increase in energy prices (per Watt) so far. But my AC is working constantly in this heat and it's killing my utility bill. With the tariffs I'm definitely not excited for the increased wear and tear on my aged HVAC system. 7 minutes ago, Economy said: I doubt oil is the reason anymore. Very little US oil still comes from middle east. The US is now its own biggest producer. The majority of what it still imports come from Canada followed by Mexico Some does still come from Middle East but a relative sliver now I wonder how much of it affects plastic trade though. Fighting for access to oil to be sent to China, India, etc to refine into plastic would not surprise me.

There's a reason it's the most hotly contested global region. Especially since the energy crisis in the 1970s, the US foreign policy has been almost single mindedly focused on becoming the primary if not sole security for the mineral resources of the region. It's one of the most easy to access stockpiles left in the world of many crucial resources in the global economy (until the ice caps melt which is why America and Russia are starting to look towards the Artic). Control that stockpile, control the world. The gays know how to party

Ideally, the territory should be fully and firmly under Armenian control because it's Armenian. But Azerbaijan already occupies pieces of territory internationally recognized as Armenian and Armenia is too weak to enforce its control over them. Which means there will need to be a foreign power protecting the corridor from the prospect of Azeri annexation. Russia and Iran are too weak and distracted and/or unwilling to defend it. So realistically, the only option that can still work (Armenia=weak, Azerbaijan=expansionist, Russia=disinterested, Iran=weak), is the US. I am not saying the US will do a great job though.

I'll never understand the justification for the price on Mayhem ball tickets. The entire tour is a cashgrab, with Gaga herself saying she didn't intend on touring this year. It feels like it was all pulled together to capitalize on the album before the economy entirely goes down the drain. I still believe she meant/intends to tour in stadiums next year. But the price I saw for 200 level seats in an arena is the price I paid for CBT PIT tickets. You are very lucky. My HVAC is 18 years old. It runs surprisingly well and more efficient than you'd think, replacing it wouldn't really lower my cost by much. But any wear and tear brings it closer to needing replaced. However, the people of Artsakh on their own accord wanted independence. Azerbaijan cleansed them, and now there are no ethnic Armenians in this area for the first time since before ancient times. The US wants it for colonial reasons. Azerbaijan shouldn't have it because they need to have consequences for their ethnic cleansing. ON TOP OF THIS, this situation is recognized by some as being the standard that has allowed Israel to g3nocide Gaza. This is because Azerbaijan received no punishment for cleansing, and Netanyahu saw this and realized that he could get away with doing whatever he wanted to Palestinians. Sadly he was right. There is a deeper, historical paralel in that the Armenian Genocide of the 20th century was also a blue-print for ethnic cleansing that eventually turned to be a framework of the Zionist movement.

Poor @ChicaSkas just got a ticket to the show tonight and it's a nosebleed where the literal ceiling blocks the view for the same price I paid to be close enough to touch Gaga at my Enigma-lite show my own damn Mayhem Ball date set me back by almost three f*cking grand legit this is my last Gaga tour if this is how it's gonna be, I'm not here for the greed Anyway....yeah the whole system set me back a few thousand (I don't remember the exact number) but our electric bills fell by like 50% after that so it's slowly been paying for itself Whimsical bitch

I wouldn’t go quite as far as you did with your conclusions lol she was probably going to tour next year as it wasn’t expected the album would be a SMASH but then when it was livenation wanted to capitalize on that. That’s not a cash grab that’s responding to the market lol I doubt it was before the economy goes bad, it was honestly probably just they didn’t expect the era to be THIS successful for her after the last couple were solid but not barnstormers
AddMeOnMYSPACE 2,096
But why does the us NEED to control this area? We already have a crisis with Israel I’d think it would be bad to be so involve with ME politics. also isn’t this where borat is located?
dit 46,738
America needs to exit this mess and leave Armenia and Azerbaijan to deal with this on their own. Imo having a road ocnnecting Azerbaijan to it's exclave Nackchivan makes sense BUT it still needs to be something Armenia agrees to and a plan that respects it's sovereignty and control over it with a memorandum that explicitly gives Azerbaijan confidence that the road wont be cut off arbitrarily / for no good reason. That way Armenia can save face, have sovereignty over it and Azerbaijan can have land crossing access to it's split off territory.
