Zangezur Corridor hotly disputed between Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, US

Several online outlets have reported that the United States may take over administration of the Zangezur Corridor, a proposed land route connecting Azerbaijan with its exclave Nakhchivan through Armenian territory. Armenia wants to keep control over its section, while Azerbaijan demands full extraterritorial access.

Russia’s security service, the FSB, was expected to manage the corridor, but the new U.S. proposal could change the dynamics amid rising tensions between Azerbaijan and Russia. This shift could alter regional influence significantly. The corridor is strategically important, linking Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan and Turkey. 

Azerbaijan insists on free movement without Armenian security involvement, preferring Russian protection. Armenia has proposed border management models, but key details like the route and usage rights are still unclear.

The Zangezur Corridor would connect mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenia’s Syunik province, crucial for Azerbaijan’s territorial unity and a direct link to Turkey, boosting Turkic ties. It’s mentioned in the 2020 ceasefire but control over the Armenian section remains unsettled.

Azerbaijan demands free passage without customs or Armenian security involvement, preferring Russian protection. In late 2024, Armenia proposed border management plans modeled on its Georgia and Iran borders, revealed at the “Yerevan Dialogue” conference.

Key details about the corridor remain unclear—whether it’s a transit-only zone for Azerbaijan and Turkey, a road or rail route with limited vehicle access, or if Armenians can use it. The route itself is disputed: Azerbaijan and Turkey want it through southern Armenia near Meghri, while Armenia favors a northern path near Kapan.

These unresolved issues highlight the corridor’s complexity and ongoing regional tensions despite multiple proposals.

Well, I guess we kinda are tbh the heat index has been 110°F+ every day for two weeks now

It's been so miserable. My utility bill is 25% higher than it's been all year, finally getting rain to dissipate some of the heat.

Utilities are gonna keep going up too. Energy costs are gonna skyrocket.

Solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy are being systematically shut down by Trump causing less supply (economics 101: less supply, higher price).

The power grid is also in dire need of physical maintenance. Energy efficiency is suffering causing even lower supply.

AND all these corporations (and to a lesser extent, normal people) are developing AI that's sucking a ridiculous amount of power, creating higher demand...and higher prices.

Florida already has some of the highest utilities in the country and we're on a fast track to paying a sh*t ton more just to keep our houses habitable.

I doubt oil is the reason anymore. Very little US oil still comes from middle east. The US is now its own biggest producer. The majority of what it still imports come from Canada followed by Mexico

Armenia, like Azerbaijan, isn't innocent when it comes to ethnic cleansing. However, the people of Artsakh on their own accord wanted independence. Azerbaijan cleansed them, and now there are no ethnic Armenians in this area for the first time since before ancient times. The US wants it for colonial reasons. Azerbaijan shouldn't have it because they need to have consequences for their ethnic cleansing.

ON TOP OF THIS, this situation is recognized by some as being the standard that has allowed Israel to g3nocide Gaza. This is because Azerbaijan received no punishment for cleansing, and Netanyahu saw this and realized that he could get away with doing whatever he wanted to Palestinians. Sadly he was right.

Higher electricity costs and higher raw material costs

 

Trump says its about manufacturing then does everything to kill its competitiveness

 

Or how about the fact hes harder on Canada than almost everyone else? One of the few Countries the US has a major trade Surplus with when it comes to manufacturing?

 

(Yes i realize theres a small overall deficit in trade in Canada favour because the USA buys so much Oil and energy from Canada but in the context of factory blue collar jobs were a net contributer to the US manufacturing job market)
