Theoretically, I don’t think you’re wrong that it’s not intrinsically offensive, but generally, it was the way in which it was used to reinforce broad racial stereotypes of Asian people (mocking their appearances, languages, and treating them as “foreigners” and “others” relative to Europeans and “westerners”). I just don't think people want to listen this type of music rn, the cheesy, anthemic songs about self-love and acceptance and it's not something people want from Gaga. That's one of the reasons I think Lizzo is flopping rn, because that is her brand. I suppose Orient is a western concept of how the west saw Asia during colonial times. As an Asian person born in Asia, I don't think the word is offensive at all ... Like if some boomer asks “what kind of Chinese are you?”, it’s offensive because they’re assuming all Asians are Chinese, but it’s not the word Chinese itself that’s offensive.
