P0rnhub Leaves France As The Country Require ID Verification To Visit Adult Sites Now

Aylo, the company which runs a number of p0rnographic websites, including P0rnhub, is to stop operating in France from Wednesday.

It is in reaction to a French law requiring p0rn sites to take extra steps to verify their users' ages.

An Aylo spokesperson said the law was a privacy risk and assessing people's ages should be done at a device level.

P0rnhub is the most visited p0rn site in the world - with France its second biggest market, after the US.

Aylo - and other providers of sexually explicit material - find themselves under increasing regulatory pressure worldwide.

The EU recently announced an investigation into whether P0rnhub and other sites were doing enough to protect children.

Aylo has also stopped operating in a number of US states, again over the issue of checking the ages of its users.

All sites offering sexually explicit material in the UK will soon also have to offer more robust "age assurance."

That might be true, but interactions on telegram and whatsapp are less governable than visiting actual **** websites.

I don't agree that laws should be enacted for this, especially when parental control tools and software exist to moderate what content someone under the age of 18 can view.

I appreciate their concern but transferring the responsibility of protecting children to an adult site is stupid considering the privacy risks this could pose. Thats the parents or guardians responsibilities to make sure device level parental controls and restrictions are enabled.

The goal of this is that the French government actually wants foreign providers like P0rnhub & Co. to shut down for French users and force French people to consume France-made p0rn from French business companies that have to comply with these laws. It's all about business interests. The global p0rn market is dominated by Eastern Europe & America, and France as always doesn't like that.

France is a nationalist-protectionist market.

France was once a respected country with high prestige but it lost its prestige with such authoritan Soviet Union-style laws.

These laws are embarassing and throw shade on France.  France now looks like a draconinan, unfree, authoritan country because p0rn is usually banned in unfree states and France is now part of them and more in a league with Pakistan and Belarus than the West. They say they are not analayzing ID data but French government has been lying to people countless times and Zuckerberg has also been lying about Facebook respecting privacy data.

If someone will run for poltician in France in like 2040, suddenly data will show up what p0rn he consumed in 2026.

Modern France as a whole is a stone age country

Compare the pop music scene of South Korea, Japan, Anglo-Canada, UK, USA with France. Korea and Japan are futuristic, Canada is impressive, UK lots of modern and cool acts, USA bombastic, while France is old-fashinoed and always has the same old lame songs or new songs which are far from being hits or innovative and not hot at all. People are forced to listen to Edith Piaf 4782x a year

They even have a French-language quota that makes it mandatory for radio and clubs to play at least 35% French music. A protectionst quota that tries to shift business to French instead of foreign acts, because France politicians as always hate Anglo-Saxon culture.

One might have thought this could have helped to develop and boost an interesting French-language pop scene, but it failed and didn't, instead people are legally mandated to listen to old-fashioned stuff and third-class new songs instead of what is hot in the world. I think music is part of the arts and there should be no restrictions on it. South Korea managed to get a hot virbrant national scene without quotas, with less inhabitants than France and France fails even with quotas. French is a beautiful language and could have potential for great music, but the global French music scene is a total flop and failure and fails to attract an international audience.

Honestly I don't know much about the music scene in France, but Francoise Hardy, La Femme and Saint Levant are always on rotation for me, and as non-franco speaker I kinda always assumed those 3 and what falls in between are pretty much indictive of the music you can expect to hear on French radio.

Because it can be so easy to fake online ID or such a hassle to check... the company may feel its exposing itself to too much financial legal risks if sued or fined
