"I'm not a feminist" then explain she wanted to defend the freedom for women to chose how they want to be and express themselves.

Isn't that precisely being a feminist?

It actually says "I'm not not a feminist", which in context seems to be the rare, intentional use of a double negative for cancellation rather than emphasis. In other words, read it as "It's not that I'm not a feminist, but...".

Oh my bad I red too quickly lol! ;)

Yeah she's neither fully claiming it or rejecting it it seems.

Honestly I think the place for willful submission is already included by feminists. She seems to think they would expect her to be some kind of tough dom chick or whatever but it sounds quite a cliché view of feminism.

What a time to be a Lana fan. You don't suddenly snap like that for no reason, this was building inside her for a while and that day, something caused the dam to burst. It was so badass at the time to my mind, but looking back, it is more than a bit cringe because the emotional nature of it makes it a tad uncomfortable.

But people really blew it out of proportion because she mentioned specific names and tried to derive racist intention from it. In actuality, she was just naming the most popular female names at the time and it wasn't her fault that the public made so many black women successful so who else was she meant to mention? Of course, many missed the fact that she included Ariana (who she did a song with) and Camila (who featured in her Coachella set) as well so she didn't just cite black women. She didn't even need to add Camila because her one and only hit was several years prior, so for all we know she added in those names for fear she'd be called racist for only citing black women in the first place. No, people refused to see the bigger picture or her bigger point, they just saw black women be cited and made it all about race when the post was nothing to do with race and deemed it to be an entitled white woman crying white tears. If she hadn't given specific examples, maybe things would've been different. She became very defensive after that when no one asked her to, saying she didn't think of the colour of all the people who featured on her Chemtrails album cover and suchlike. She made really good points, she just could've expressed herself so much better. For such a talented songwriter, her typed messages seem to go off the rails.

I'm glad that she's mostly getting her flowers now for the most part. We just need a Grammy to really put the cherry on top. I just have to hope that this meltdown didn't forever ruin her chances.

I think she was still growing in her feminist journey at the time. At the start of her career, she was flat-out saying she wasn't a feminist and by this point, she was saying that she is a feminist but doesn't think that women like her are welcome in it. I hope since another 5 years have passed that she's also grown from that as well. There really is space for every type of woman in feminism now but granted, how clear that is to you depends what material you're viewing.
