Should we be worried about the future concerts? :ohno:

Always have to be vigilant no matter what the event! A size of that crowd would deff bring in people plotting…

so glad it didnt happen:heart:

From what I understand, it seems some sick bastards were using indecent images to blackmail kids to 💣 the concert. It’s truly terrifying.

No way

They didn't know.

This seems quite bad that it was kept from everyone.

Absolutely outrageous!!!!!!! Gaga is probably fuming right now!!! If she cancelled a tour for covid theres no way ever ever she would let her fans have danger!

It's pretty obvious that they didn't tell about that until the event was over, otherwise it would've caused hysteria and maybe even cancel the whole show, which would've been tragic and exactly what the haters/terrorists wanted... :iamfair:

The authorities did the right thing.

They'd neutralised the threat. No known risk at that point existed.
Alerting people and risking the news getting out while up to 2.5 million people were gathering was the only risk remaining at this point.

Can you imagine being in a crowd of up to 2.5 million people, many of whom could be drunk or high and partying, when they suddenly learn there's a terror threat via unofficial channels or that a major concert is getting cancelled?
You'd have a major crowd which could either cause a panicked stampede and kill hundreds if not thousands and injure countless people - or a drunken riot which could do the same.

In no way whatsoever would i recommend the crowd getting an announcement.. unsure where you got that from?

So what happens if Gaga & co get told as you referred to and she decides to cancel at the last minute?

What do you expect to happen with a crowd of that size, thousands of whom had been there for 24+ hours.

You're saying its outrageous that Gaga and her team weren't told. You're saying Gaga and her team wouldn't let her fans be put at risk.
And if they weren't going to tell the crowd anything then what was your complaint? What would have been changed by Gaga & her team knowing?

That would've been insanely tough decision for Gaga to make: perform or not, risking her fans or cancel her biggest show ever? Either choice she would've done, would've been tragic and affected her mood negatively. And we don't even know the terms if she would've been able to cancel it anyway... :yennefer:

So it actually seems as though the news have blown it out of proportion (as usual). My friend who is there said that the people are part of a far right group and were tracked online and arrested in different parts of Brazil, they didn’t even get close to the concert and they weren’t targeting Gaga specifically, just as it was a large event. The news are making it sound like they actually got there and were arrested by security, I feel more reassured now. I assume that’s why her team weren’t told because it wasn’t actually much of a risk (although they still definitely should have been)

She had a right to know she could have taken extra precautions for the crowd, herself and lots more. She had a right to know. She wont trust brazil again, shes not a child the fact it was hidden is insane.

what was the motive?

The same motive all these crackpot anti-gay groups have: inflict suffering on the gay community and the people that support us.

Eh, the only "precaution" that would have been in her power to take is refusing to perform.

It's not like it was maliciously hidden from her, she just didn't need to know and telling her, her team, or anyone there could have caused a leak and incited panic among the 2.5 million people crammed onto the beach and nearby streets which would have arguably been more dangerous than some psychos with a few improvised explosives.

The police were on top of things and nobody was hurt, that's all that matters.

She's absolutely not a child. But she's also not a trained counter terrorism intelligence officer is she?

There is nothing Gaga could have done as an artist or an individual that was not already being done and done better by the 5000+ trained police officers deployed to the event.

ROHKEUS

I got really afraid at the end of the show bc the fireworks were really loud. Like, we were like four blocks from there and they were louder than anything and it didn't sound like fireworks, sounded like bombs in a quarry (I lived nearby one some years ago). We were running to the subway bc we had to get to the airport really fast, we didn't have any money to stay in Rio and the cheapest flight next day was 4 hours after the show and this airport is very far. Thank god it wasn't, but when I saw the news I got sad bc there wasn't this kind of thing here in Brazil before the rise of the extreme right. Now people kinda got used to news like this and I'm really afraid. We had our "January 6" here as well, inspired by the original, on the Jan 8th/2023 when center-left got back in power, before and after that, there have been some attempts of detonating bombs in the capitol, by the extreme right, and still bc of how polarized the country is and how the extreme right dominates social media with moral and religious panic, amnesty for many of the involved are really close of getting through the congress. I'm getting the feeling it will only gonna get worse.

I didn't get this vibe from what her PR team said, and I don't think she would do a show like this one again soon either way, this is a once in a decade opportunity, if she comes back here next year, she will probably do shows in stadiums and the security is waay easier to control, even by her team, so I don't think she lost the trust in the country. It wouldn't even make sense, do you know how big is Brazil? This was a coordinated effort with different forces of police, throughout many states, and the terrorists' plans were'nt coordinated, still it went all ok in a show with 2 million people in an open environment. I think what happened proves more that she can trust our intelligence than the other way around.

In love with chaos depressed by fate.

I could only imagine the crowd crush situation if they had informed the public, that would be terrifying. Their goal is to keep a crowd that size calm and safe and they did their job.
