This is a FACT. ...yeah but Kamala's approach to the genocide was, at BEST, indifferent, which put a LOT of people off. Trump is OBVIOUSLY worse, yes, but Democrats are the ones who claim they run on better platforms, and to be indifferent to a genocide that YOUR PARTY supported and made possible, is unacceptable to some. I don't think dems want to understand this, they will keep blaming voters instead. Frankly, they made the political decision of choosing control over the Middle East and threw away the first amendment, instead of anything for the betterment of their people, or the world. Which is a very American thing to do anyway, I guess. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

I mean, they had a choice between "Palestinians deserve security and the right to self determination" and "Israel should finish the job so I can build a hotel in Gaza". And FIVE MILLION former Biden voters cited Gaza as the main reason they did not vote for Kamala. God only knows how many first time voters or otherwise made the same choice. That right there tells me Democrats do not need to capitulate to the ideals of such stupid, stupid people 'cause they're a base only fit for losing. Leftists should push during the primaries to nominate their candidate. But regardless of who wins, they need to be all in on whatever Democrat is nominated. Oh bestie I agree with you and that’s been my position since Trump won. Centrists in America are pretty right wing, I’ve only seen centrists running defense for Donald Trump, never Biden or the democrats. They’re usually just secret conservatives using centrism as a disguise. Most liberals are center left. Center left is different from the far left. I would say Biden was more center left than a centrist. There’s no point in trying to secure the votes of a base that won’t end up voting for you, even if the alternative for them is the next iteration of Hitler. The last time a candidate ran on being actively progressive was Obama, and, I mean, he won the two times he ran. But that was also before I started paying attention to politics, so I really don't know how progressive his campaign actually was in the context of 2008 and 2012. I don't know how far he leaned into appealing to the leftists or not. The thing is, I believe that policy can be a deal-breaker for leftists, but it's not a good swaying factor for undecided, independents, and American Centrists. I think it's absolutely reprehensible that there are leftists that essentially enabled Trump to win by either not voting or voting third party; there is very much such a thing as the lesser of two evils. But also, I think that the Democrat Party and their candidates need to recognize that they played a major part in their loss through their fatal missteps. They didn't want to challenge the status quo, and they wanted to combat accusations of Kamala being a marxist communist. Well, in their efforts to do that, they alienated the leftists and she was still seen as a marxist communist. I do think that leftists voters can be more sensitive than the average voter, my initial reaction to "they can't be relied on" is that feels slightly hyperbolic. But again, just a feeling, there could definitely be evidence of it being true.

It was a binary choice and one was CLEARLY and overwhelmingly worse than the other. This country failed an open book test. Now just this week we are discussing whether US citizens will be sent to terrorist maximum security prisons in another country while Trump ignored a Supreme Court ruling and whether birthright citizenship will be overturned by that same Supreme Court Trump is ignoring. You don't pick the perfect candidate, you pick the better candidate. But leftists consistently decide their own stances and egos are more important than the consequences of elections. We are in a constitutional crisis thanks to everyone who facilitated Trump's win. I'm an amalgamation of leftist and conservative. I would prefer a system with low taxes where I'm given the ability to make it on my own without capitalism crushing the middle and lower class but a system like that will never work. So I support the one that'll tweak the existing system into a more humane one where people's needs are met by those taxes. I cannot wrap my head around the pure BS that has to go through a person's head to say "this candidate is better but they're not perfect so I'll vote for the candidate that has a 0% chance instead" when SO MUCH WAS AT STAKE I can write the right off as hateful and stupid but if I'm aligning myself with progressive policies I'm gonna need progressive people to stop shooting themselves in the goddamn foot 'cause this is TWICE that Trump has won and left wing voters could have prevented it. lasagna 3,470
please no. i love aoc and she would be a fantastic president, but america hates women too much to ever elect a woman. hillary and kamala two of the most qualified candidates ever lost to an impeached serial rapist. the only person that ever bet him was a genocide loving man that is barely even sentient. aoc or any woman for that matter won't win in my lifetime, unfortunately

I'm so absolutely positive these same leftists will crawl back out of their holes in 2028 to protest the nominated Democrat while Don Jr or whoever else runs a straight up Nazi platform. So I agree with the idea that leftists were harsher, that they were condemning Palestine to a fate worse than what Kamala would have given, and that those same leftists will do the same thing against the next Dem candidate. My only two knee-jerks to this are in regard to those 5 million Biden voters. One is anecdotal, the other is...statistical? The anecdotal is - and keep in mind, maybe me and my social sphere just aren't actually that leftists, but we would fall into the Social Democracy philosophy - we were very much against Kamala's platform, especially toward Gaza, police, and response to trans issues; but we were loudly voting for her, some of us even heavily campaigning for her. So that might explain my gut resistance. I can definitely see that being an exception. But the other was that there was a survey from you.gov that showed that, in a sample of ~1070 Biden voters. 56% did not vote for Kamala. Of those. they were also asked for what reason did they not vote her, the biggest reason was Gaza, followed by the Economy, with 29% and 23% respectively. Other breaking point issues were Medicare, Immigration, and Abortion rights, with Other/Don't Know making 4%. Now, my point is that I do think that if these stats (which, a sample of 1000 is...meh, but not bad). Then it can be surmised that there's a similar trend. And I just don't think that all 5 million of those Biden voters that left were leftists, and in fact, I don't think they're mostly leftists. Granted, 30% is a hell of a lot, and inexcusable. But those that switched over the Economy, Medicare, Immigration, and Abortion? And those were all the top 5 reasons behind Palestine? All 4 of those sound like conservative talking points, and they account for almost 70% of lost Biden voters. EDIT: Here's the link to the, ahem, press release of the survey. I remember seeing a more in depth version with methodology and everything, but I can't find it now.
