I think it's just interscope did this stupid PR thingy to pit them against each other because they thought that it can be a britney vs christina case and bring more sales to each artists, but it didn't, it just created a bad PR to both, from the reductive moment, both Madonna and Gaga started to struggle with their albums.

Nah, it wasn't Interscope's doing. Madonna has said for years she never actually had a problem with Gaga, just that she felt the songs were similar. She wasn't even upset by it, and frequently mentioned Gaga positively at the time in other interviews. But if Madonna is gonna do anything, it's turn something into an opportunity for press. So she leaned into the so-called feud in hopes she could reunite with Gaga on stage, which is why she did "Born This Way" on her tour in the first place.

A lot of Gaga fans seem to forget this whole thing only started because Gaga got on TV and said Madonna gave her approval for "Born This Way" when the song first came out, only for Madonna's rep to put out a statement the very next day saying that never happened. Then Gaga flipped and had a meltdown in an interview when she was asked about it. I don't think Madonna believed Gaga would take the whole thing so personally, but I think Gaga was overwhelmed and feeling the weight of her own fame back then and Madonna adding to that pile wasn't what she needed.

But it's been water under the bridge between them for years now, so it's always funny how fans on both sides continue to hold onto it.

I never stopped stanning madonna tbh, I enjoyed this feud lol, it was very madonna, some gaga fans can  be very defensive and some madonna fans can be very very vicious, so it went too far between the fanbases, I still hope for a collab, it can be interesting
