Morphine Prince 109,645
China has raised its retaliatory tariffs on US imports from 84% to 125%, the State Council Tariff Commission said in a statement on Friday. Beijing appeared to indicate that it wouldn’t increase its tariffs on US goods beyond the 125%, according to a statement from a Commerce Ministry spokesperson. “The successive imposition of excessively high tariffs on China by the US has become nothing more than a numbers game, with no real economic significance. It merely further exposes the US practice of weaponizing tariffs as a tool of bullying and coercion, turning itself into a joke,” the spokesperson said. “If the US insists on continuing this numbers game with tariffs, China will not engage. However, if the US persists in substantively harming China’s interests, China will resolutely take countermeasures and fight to the end.” Source: https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-presidency-news-administration-tariffs-04-11-25?Date=20250411&Profile=CNN&utm_content=1744359696&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram#cm9cffrar00143b6omgcpw6ph

The Walrus 106
Every day something new... Every day some more crazy numbers. And I am sure that Trump will see their statement as a sign of weakness and press on even more tariffs to show them who is "best", only for it to backfire on the US economy while China strengthen their long-term economy. 200 % tariffs next I'm sure I am the walrus, goo-goo g'joob

Economy 52,834
Trump will have to fold first. Plain and simple China is Authoritarian not a full democracy. So while politics still exist in China they do not have to worry about public support anyway as much as the US. Also even if public support mattered as much as in the US (it doesnt), still, most Chineese will blame the US for any pain they feel while at least half of Americans will blame the US not China This is Americas big weakness in all of this. Its a very large an powerful Nation absolutely. But it has political weakness. Even against other Democracies like Canada, Mexico, EU, Japan etc... those citizens will blame America for pain not their own Governments and they will give them political permission and support to fight back (as is happening here in Canada. No one is blaming our PM for this, all anger is on Trump) But in America its different. At least 60% of America does not support the tarrifs and will also blame Trump for negative consequences not other Countries America is a powerful Nation but politically its vulnerable here and Trump may have overplayed his hand. Not to mention politics aside, as big as America is as a single Nation... everyone else combined hes decided to take on (China, EU, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea etc) are at least twice as large if not more. Trump is analagous to some strong trained fighter that one on one would beat anyone but because of his ego now wants to prove hes strong so he takes on a fight against 10 other average guys... guess what? That fighter is now gonna loose because as strong as you might be, 10 against one is not duable
