Creyk 17,805
Clearly not since it bombed to hell. ( I still love the song) Looking at the numbers, it should have been garden of eden or how bad do you want me, with Abracadabra staying as 2nd single. RBL 561
Yes it was. It’s an incredible song. She just needs to make other singles with MV. This album is so f good ABRⱯCADⱯBRA
HeavyCapiLover 3,556
I dont even think that they intended Diesease to be a hit. There are plenty of ohter tracks on the album that could've get easily better numbers and that are much more adapted to the GP such as GoE, Vanish into you, Shadow, etc. Or they could have started directly with Abracadabra. Also they didnt push it that much. But I think they peeked Disease as an introduction to the Mayhem era and its storyline, rather than trying to have a big hit with the first single. Its a smart move given the fact that everything is so unpredictable in the streaming era. Edited March 16 by HeavyCapiLover
andy232000 11,367
Honestly, any song following up DWAS would’ve failed. The only thing Maybe Gaga could’ve done was release one of the punkier rock songs to manage expectations that it would be a Pop-industrial sound. That way if we had, say, Vanish into You first and then abracadabra, we would all have known that the record would be heavily funky as well, instead of thinking we would get 16 Diseases and Abracadabras. But even doing that would’ve pissed off some fans because releasing twi Adult Contemporary ballads back to back would have been terrible for them. Single wise, I think there was no other choice. Tracklisting wise…thats another stour
