IND denies that uneven ground was the reason for cancellation of Shakira's shows

The National Institute of Sports (IND) denied that the reason for the cancellation of Shakira's shows in Chile on March 2 and 3 was uneven ground under the stage.
In her statement, Shakira said: "The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour is the biggest tour of my career and currently one of the largest productions in the world, with a stage weighing 62 tons. Unfortunately, we encountered uneven ground that was not properly stabilized to ensure the safety of my band, my dancers, my fans, and myself."

The director of the IND stated that the venue was delivered in perfect condition and the cancellation occurred due to a failure in the installation of the stage. The ground wasn't uneven. In addition, “a metal structure collapsed and there were delays in the installation of the screens”. The IND also clarified that the cancellation of the events was “a decision beyond the control” of the management of the venue.

The National Consumer Service (SERNAC) plans to file a complaint against Shakira, the producer of her show or whoever is responsible for the last-minute cancellation of the concerts. “According to the information provided so far, we are obviously not in a case of force majeure or fortuitous event, but there is obviously a contractual breach and we will have to investigate who is responsible,” director of SERNAC.

SERNAC has said that those affected can demand the refund of their tickets and compensation for additional economic damages, such as plane tickets and accommodation. The agency called on those affected to submit their claim on its website, attaching receipts that prove their expenses. In addition, SERNAC has informed the public of the steps that can be followed, either through a Voluntary Collective Proceeding or a Class Action Lawsuit, depending on the information gathered in the next few days.
