Teletubby 141,052
There’s no denying that one of the more bizarre moments of the Academy Awards was the James Bond musical tribute — not only because viewers were anticipating an announcement tied to the franchise, freshly acquired by Amazon, but because of the guests tapped to perform - LISA, Doja Cat and Raye. On a surface level, the latter three artists don’t have a direct tie to the franchise, and were seemingly put together in an indirect attempt to promote their own joint single, “Born Again,” which they did not sing. Instead, when each of these artists individually launched into their performance, covering the greatest and most recognizable themes in 007 history, the creative decisions fell flat — along with some notes. That’s per Doja Cat, who on Monday penned a long paragraph about her night at the Oscars, stating that she “put a lot of work into [the performance], but the nerves got to me and a bitch hit some flats.” “I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as fvck for me,” she continued. “I know a lot of people didn’t like it, but a lot of people did, and I feel good that I pushed myself.” In a seperate post, Raye said she “was sooo nervous to sing this song because no one can sing Adele like Adele, but I tried my very best.” Online, Bond fans expressed displeasure with the performance, calling the tribute “pointless” for failing to address the questions surrounding the long-running spy franchise. variety "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy
bionic 46,911
The performance was unnecessary. The performance was unwanted. Whatever objective the producers set out by including it, they completely failed. Doja Cat did a good job and RAYE did OK. Liza was terrible and shouldn't have been anywhere near it. stream ritacadabra
NUTELLA 5,297
Unrealistic- but in an ideal world, they would have invited Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Sheryl Crow, Garbage, Chris Cornell, Adele & Billie Eilish to the ceremony for a medley of their respective 007 songs, while big franchise moments played onscreen behind them. End of an era.
FreedomInTheMusic 482
Oscar producers worked so so hard to prevent an Emilia Perez performance that we got this instead 🙃
Red 96,315
What, people didn’t like it? I hate Doja but I liked her performance and the other ones so much If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

freebit 6,184
I saw someone wondering if Doja was being ironic and camp, and I was like, "why would she do that? It's a huge performance slot." To me, putting my heart into something and people thinking I'm taking the piss would be incredibly insulting, so, it's very cool to admit that this didn't go the way she wanted it to. I feel bad for her & Raye, they both can clearly sing, it just wasn't their best.
holy scheisse 21,921
Doja cat almost sounded like she was trying to sing like Gaga at some points. Not to make it about Gaga lmao but also… it wasn’t good I fear 🫠
Roughhouse Dandy 9,922
Loved the spirit and liked most of the performance. They should be proud! The amount of hate is unwarranted; at least they (mostly) turned their mics on and went for it. That's more than what's promised nowadays. This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss. dit 46,267
They all did a horrible performance. All three. It was awkward, they all sounded bad and it just felt pointless indeed. Kudos for pushing themselves and trying though.

I would be interested to hear it incorporated into a medley. Jack White, Alicia Keys & Sam Smith stay away though
