The Fame Monster

The Fame

Born this way

Joanne

Chromatica

ARTPOP

Unsure where to rank mayhem yet, the album needs to come out and she still has many interviews and performances scheduled, too soon to say for me, but it ranks very highly.

The Fame Monster - the most iconic of anyone of all time, from the album cover, to the mv's to the tour looks.

The Fame - looking back on it, it feels kinda BRAT.  Gaga on a budget? Nostalgic?

Mayhem - DarkGa but feels more punk and sophisticated. Cohesive branding.

ARTPOP - interesting high art references. some great mv visuals. lack of editing tho.

BTW - DarkGa except she had already done it better before.

Joanne - I do love that she has a simple pop era. I think she could do it again and better next time.

Chromatica - never connected visually with it, except the 911 video. everything feels immature or like  a video game.

Truly :ladyhaha:

I prefer the dark stuff in horror movies and for pop music to be more flamboyant and colorful. There's a reason I didn't stan until ARTPOP :ally:

Sometimes it works though. Like Chromatica. Even though I prefer the videos for SL and 911 over ROM the tour itself having that industrial, "gun metal grey" kind of set worked as an overarching theme for the show.

But other times I get bored with it...like Abracadabra's video. That song sounds so bright to me and I was really hoping (against my common sense) for some kind of illusionist or mind freak vibe for the video but it ended up being a repeat of the same Bloody Mary/Judas/Fame Commercial vibe. Like, you could teleport that video to 2011 and it wouldn't be out of place.

At this point I've given up on ever loving her visuals again :icant: I can live with it though, no big deal

Can I genuinely say this is giving mature vibes in a positive way and I like that? Fr

I'll meltdown over important stuff (activism, hating DWAS, stuff like that) but "I don't really care for dark visuals"? It's just a matter of taste :diane:

I think it comes from my extroverted personality. I like boisterous, loud, colorful displays that take up space and...Idk, "expansive" is the word I think of while the dark visuals often give either a sinister, shadowy feeling, a "constricted" feeling of being pulled in. Almost claustrophobic?

Or they give a "Celebrity Colors round 7: Leather/Black, winner is *insert drag queen's name here*" feeling... @SharkmanthaC :giggle:
