LadyEnigma 1,331 Posted March 3, 2025 Share Posted March 3, 2025 I genuinely do not understand the hype for Anora, I watched the movie I think it was great, however it also felt like it isn’t a very original idea the writing wasn’t great the characters were underdeveloped while Demi Moore had a career defining performance in The Substance as well as Coralie getting snubbed for director after she got dressed up as the character and cramped into an elevator with a body double to shoot pov for the entire last sequence…. Brody’s AI enhanced performance winning left a bad taste in my mouth, and Zoe S. could’ve won for almost anything else she’s been in and I wouldn’t be upset but EMELIA PÉREZ? That’s the performance you want to honor? I keep seeing people say it’s a career award, but where is Demi’s and where is Ralph’s? I just is so funny to me that the voters abandoned the Emilia Perez bandwagon only to give the big awards to another agenda film (sex work) and while I do agree that Anora for the most part deserved and that sex work needs to be humanized nd deserves the spotlight, the cynic in me just knows all those must-feel-good-about-themselves-for-doing-the-absolute-bare-minimum liberals who were gonna vote for Emilia Perez just switched and in another timeline we were definitely be looking at the Crash (2005) of this decade. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
