Chromatica vs MAYHEM Hype

Now that we're only 4 days away from LG7 aka Mayhem, which album has the most hype pre-release?

Chromatica or Mayhem?

Mayhem I guess. Stupid Love and Sour Candy had very mixed reviews from fans so I guess some people weren't very hyped

Whatever, Chromatica deserved better production. Some songs are not dynamic, but more simple. Imagine Gaga only hiring Burns and other producers for Chromatica, but without BloodPop it would definitely be a stronger drop. Although what came out for us, we still have to appreciate what we have. MAYHEM is definitely opposite of Chromatica. It's dark side, heavy sounds and a lot of electronic synths. Chromatica has a danceable and colorful vibe to it. MAYHEM will be my tasteful album.

Guys honestly I’m so scared of Friday like OMG i’m shaking and throwing up

i haven’t had expectations so high like since ARTPOP and now I’m finding myself being so affraid of being dissapointed on Friday

like am I real? Am i overreacting?

this era gives me nightmares because nothing is known, nothing leaked, I’m glad actually but terrified in the same time

i really hope the album rocks and is full of bops

I remember there was a lot of hype for Chromatica following the success of A Star is Born.

Fans loved Rain on Me too which contributed to the hype.

I never forgot the feeling of listening to Alice for the first time.

Chromatica will definitely be remembered as my lockdown album, and it's still nostalgic to me for that reason but I'm not sure whether the album aged that well... Although it's a super cohesive album with some great songs, it's very stuck in a certain sound without enough variety. Even ROM gets fewer daily streams than Million Reasons.

Mayhem, on the hand, seems already to be a more interesting album, with variety and better production (from what we've seen so far 🤞🏻)

Hype-wise I think they're on similar levels, as fans forget how much hype Chromatica actually had due to succeeding A Star is Born and with the success of Rain on Me.

Really can't wait for Mayhem though, I'm so excited!

The problem (for me) with Chromatica is that most of the songs could be sung by anyone. They are not "gaga". It feels like she made this album because fans wanted electronic dance songs from her, but she didn't feel like doing it. It sounds forced.

So excited for Mayhem. I’m a Gaga diehard and pretty much enjoy her entire catalogue (Harlequin stans STAND UP), and I have a strong sense that we’re about to get her magnum opus.

🙈but I also love Chromatica🙈 I think it’s quite cohesive and tells a very logical story when you consider the arc of her career. Replay is a top 5 Gaga song for me and I tend to think the album is more successful than many here give it credit for. Also, the visuals and the tour were super memorable. It will always be thee pandemic album for me, and I’m super grateful for it!

I love Chromatica but it was far from the masterpieces she released before Joanne. I think production is too simple in general, and I wish she never works with bloodpop again.

 

Now Mayhem... It's like she's doing everything I dreamed she would. I almost can't believe It's happening

I think knowing that there is covid around, my hype for in terms of how Chromatica will be promoted is not much...knowing Gaga would be safer to not do much, and thats what she did. Now with Mayhem, like many folks here, my hype is beyond...knowing that she wants to do bring back a proper album rollout. I also know that she will give it her all bec after this era, she will settle for some time...but lets not talk about that for now haha! We have Gagachella and Gagacabana... 

In terms of music, mayhem still wins. It's obviously because of Abra, her return to dark pop, her return to Gaga-esque music. Disease and definitely DWAS also helped too.. i like Rock Gaga so Disease helped with that...and i am a Hooligan so DWAS helped with that.

In terms of visuals...i would say i was more excited with Chromatica. Bec of the tribes, those photoshoots, visuals.... there was world building going on in my head. Those crazy rumors about the Sour Cand and Free Woman music videos. It was so wild! But i still like Mayhem's dark aesthetic dont get me wrong.

So overall, mayhem wins bec 2 out of 3.

I’m way more excited for Mayhem because of the sound we’ve heard so far and it’s what I’ve been expecting to hear since she started teasing ARTPOP. 

Chromatica as much as I love it and enjoyed it, it was a great album released at a bad time in the world. She wanted to make us happy and dance and I appreciate it was made for us and got us through quarantine for some time. As for the music, it is beautiful and fun and personal and of course I love it but it lacked something.

Disease and Abracadabra have easily topped this album already and I feel like the best is yet to come.

I don’t know, MAYHEM feels epic, but Chromatica definitely had a ton of hype. I still love this album for its cohesiveness and production, even though some people say it’s a bit safe but honestly, I still think it’s one of her best albums.

Chromatica is subdued by pandemic, and by certain part of fanbase and GP not enjoying the first offering from the alboom (Stupid Love), it could've been bigger.

MAYHEM is so much bigger and better so far, though Disease are crickets cos not promoted for some reason, the fanbase at large have reacted positively, and she got all time high with DWUW & ABARACADABRA, those becomes worldwide phenomenon. Making this alboom anticipation so much more exciting. Everything seems to come her way so far, and hope it continues until the era is closing in 2027!!
