Economy 51,235
Globally I mean... Would it be fair to say its now a bigger song than Poker Face? Its difficult to make an exact comparison since Poker Face came out at a time when a lot of music consumption was still digital sales and youtube views Since then Poker Face has still racked up streams into the billion figures and it is consistently still her most streamed song (if you exclude recent releases) But DWAS has become so massive that its probably fair to say its surpassing Poker Face as her biggest commercial hit ever? 1
Economy 51,235
Also question, how many weeks has DWAS been at #1 in the world chart?
faysalaaa 5,098
If you walk down the street and ask people to sing DWAS, I dont think anyone would know it, and the ones that do wont know much of the lyrics. I dont think it can be a bigger hit than Poker Face, Bad Romance, or Shallow. 14

They only know the "pa-pa-pa-poker face pa-pa-poker face mamamamama" part #2 familiarity of big hits does increase over time. Obviously DWAS is still young, familiarity has not yet hit its peak #3 Also I did say globally. I dont think in the US or Canada for example DWAS is bigger than Poker Face or Bad Romance (tho it has defnitely surpassed shallow here id say)
Zombiecat 17,315
commercially, maybe? Shallow though.. culturaly and cultural longevity wise no i don't think so
REALITY 78,220
I don't think so. I think songs like Poker Face and Bad Romance will always be her biggest career hits. Shallow is also pretty high up there, but I'd put DWAS a tier below that. It's certainly one of her biggest songs ever, but I don't think it has the same cultural impact as those other songs—at least not in the states. I know that in Asia, DWAS is pretty big. TSUNAMI 21,236
Well if Gaga and Bruno would perform it and translate that magic to us all in some live aired event it would def help

I dont think anyone is obsessed with the song and chooses to listen to it over and over again. Unlike Shallow which everyone was obsessed with to the point where it was going viral every month for a whole year. In 10 years she will continue performing Shallow, but I dont think DWAS will be remembered. I dont know anything about charts or stream views, and I dont believe they translate into reality, so I can be wrong Edited February 8, 2025 by faysalaaa 3
KennyRichie 2,049
Maybe let’s ask this question when DWAS is 15 years old and still in every people’s mind. Longevity, that I think to will achieve but not as big as Poker Face or Bad Romance.
bionic 50,108
Chart success maybe but next to no cultural impact. Even LoveGame had more cultural impact
Leoj305 3,724
Nah, but it’s approaching top 3. Poker face and shallow followed by BR and JD , then you can argue DWAS, but hey if it stays streaming and exceeds shallow then yea you can argue poker face big. But ur argument suggests more about a songs cultural impact, longevity and iconicness That is a legit metric to try and guage but not really what im asking Specifically talking about hit as in commercial success

JustTea 6,533
Not yet, but if it keeps the longevity and is played in weddings and funerals for many years then maybe. Commercially it will become her biggest hit in a matter of time. Edit. Will be her biggest hit unit-wise after this year for sure Edited February 8, 2025 by JustTea
