It's not exactly detrimental to us if people want to be prudes. We should just let people feel how they want without shaming them (especially with the word "prude"). Not everyone likes sex (some are asexual, after all) or feel any need to have sexual expression. That's a perfectly valid way to be, it's only when they force everyone to be that way that it's a problem. Similarly, no one should be forced to be comfortable with hypersexuality either. The world is so hypersexualised that anyone who isn't feeling it are made to feel like there's something wrong with them and that's not right. Just let people live expressing themselves in a way that is true to them.

As for the reasons as to why WAP became such a hot button topic, yes, there were those who just weren't happy with women expressing their sexual desires but that was mostly from the incel, manosphere and religious realms. But for everyone who didn't belong to those groups, they were just a bit shocked to hear such explictness in a hit song regardless of who was singing it. For people who don't listen to this music, it's a shock to the system and it had been a long time since 2 very famous names were on such a dirty song which was also very mainstream. The fact that its popularity meant kids were familiar with it was a natural concern as well.

But yes, Bruno will take the heat as he's a man and people will get over a man singing about these things easier as it's seen as "just how men are and what men do." From what we've seen, the public just aren't going to like this one, so it'll move on quickly anyway. Put it this way, it takes a long time before a song like WAP becomes that much of a hit. Cardi and Megan tried to make lightning strike twice by releasing Bongos but it was a huge flop even though it was more of the same because people just didn't like it as much. People didn't become prudes in a few years, they just didn't like the song.

That's all very well but I feel this belief and fight is put in the wrong place. This is literally just about song preference. We can dislike songs for all different reasons. You can be a big supporter of sex but find sex songs cringey and awkward. You might just prefer music you can play around anyone and not get embarrassed. Or, like me, you just have a very specific vision for a good sex song and find this one lacking. Retorting with "prude" the second someone doesn't like something sexual does a disservice to the variety of preference and human experience that go into why someone believes a certain way.

The people who don't like this song just clearly don't like red. And that's okay. Because this song is very sexxy red. I did my research before the song dropped and I personally adore it.
