It was probably for the best, Diane Warren later said some shady things towards Gaga over the fact that she got credits despite doing minor changing in the song. And then she celebrated her Emmy win (in where Gaga wasn't credited). Til It Happens to You was not winning anyway with the way the Academy voted back then, most voters didn't bother to listen to all the nominees and instead voted for the title of the movie that looked the most familiar (obviously Spectre was a massive box office film compared to The Hunting Ground being an independent documentary).

Gaga eventually got her Oscar before Diane with a song that was undeniable and went to #1 (and she algo got her Emmy, so Gaga conquered at the end).

Omg guys today is my Mayhem concert. I’m so excited 😭😭😭😭😭 this is also my first international trip like ever and my Indian ass is living for it. It’s 5 in the morning I should sleep lol. Im also thinking of visiting Madame Tussaud’s Gaga wax figure coz why the hell not? Sorry if this is off-topic but I really wanted to share this feeling and I feel like this is a relevant space.

It’s kinda hilarious how you guys will reach for anything in regards to Grammy voting mentality…that Luther Story is adding absolutely NOTHING to it. Last year the Beatles released a song with the voice of Jonh Lenon which was extracted from an old demo using IA. It was also “the last single” from The Rolling Stones. It was the perfect technology and art meets nostalgia extravaganza and who won? A song calling Drake a PDFile. 

Narratives don’t work that way for these categories. ROTY tends to go to the most impactful and commercially successful song. SOTY, tends to go to the truly most well crafted song. Luther will win because it has both components, not because of its tribute to Luther Vandross who honestly, while influential in the RnB world, I bet no one actually outside of Kendrick fans know this song is about him. The average Grammy voter will vote one of two ways -> Kendrick because they will remember he dominated the charts, or Gaga because they will remember Abracadabra was a huge asset moment both at the Grammys and at high stake moments throughout the year

I think most didn’t feel the need to state the obvious about it being a massively successful song by someone who is critically acclaimed and adored by the Grammys. I felt the bit about it being tribute to Luther Vandross is what would push it over the top as the winner when comparing to Abra……

I think Abracadabra could still have a chance for top 10 in US. The last TUDUM event had 78 million views across various social media platforms. Depending on growth next week it could be top 10 on radio. Not too mention Gaga tends to see streaming growth during Pride month. I imagine Abra is going to be played during Pride events all month too. Doechi’s Anxiety is top 10 and is getting significantly less streams than Abra right now. Maybe her team will finally do the $.69 cent iTunes push with some more remixes for pride month on sale.

In usa Luther vandross Is huge rnb legend. When you think abt rnb male singers, Stevie wknder Is probably the Most succesful One but im sure the First mention Will be vandross. He was loved and It helps that Just before death he had a huge hit and hit album. Dance with my father was a big radio hit. And he got the grammys. It wasn't Also very long since he had the grammy with Beyoncé. So the grammys Will care about this obviously. It Is a narrative. For good or bad. Ofc the comercial duccess Is the Most important factor, to me.

Absolutely. This id exactly how these things work. The only narrative Abra has Is return to form, reheated nachos owned with pride. Its a song that sticks out for being absolutely like no release this year. 

The more dimensions a Song has, the more pull it'll have to be the Song or record of the year. It can only be and advantage
